Hey Riffer.

I build Windows XP PCs at my day job - and I've seen this issue many times - however I have never been able to pinpoint the exact cause.

Sometimes it will randomly re-appear (the XP Welcome audio sound)

But I do have to ask you this - does it really matter if you get the welcome audio - and what does it have to do with Riffworks?

I doubt that installing or un-installing Riffworks was the culprit - it's just another one of those oddball issues with Windows that hardly anyone cxan explain.

Sorry I don't have a better answer for you. . . . .

I too have had the oddball no welcome / then back again issue.....but NOT RiffWorks related.........I wouldn't mind NO windows log on sound but am I NOT looking for a workaround......it could be soundcard related............I believe mine was.

That is really bizarre.....have tried going into the audio properties and changing the audio profile back to default.....or specifying the sound to played at log-in?

I used to change mine to this huge thunder rumble/clap wav just to scare the kids.....lol

G'day Gents,
Just installed RWS and plugged a POD X3 live into computer Windows XP. Recorded some tracks and Playback audio will cut out, Meters on RW are bouncing, but no sound. Have to reboot everything and sound will play for a while, but cuts out....... Headphones are plugged into the POD ....I can still hear my live guitar in headphones, but nothing from RW........ Any clues would be appreciated

thanks

That's really strange.

Sounds like some type of driver or device level conflict - more than one device competing for Windows audio resources.

Is Riffworks setup panel looking at the proper ASIO audio device?

Check the Audio Setup while the needles are bouncing and there's no sound. Is there an ASIO device showing? If not ...
If you close RW, unplug your POD and plug it back in again a few seconds later then start up RW, the device should be back. It saves on rebooting everything.
If this is the case then there would appear to be an issue with the USB/ASIO drivers. Use your Line6 Monkey to make sure everything is up to date.
Cheers!
Scott
