Hi fellow guitarists,

I have a question for those who use the REX2 player. For some time I have used de loops I got from Beta Monkey and I love them. But I'm getting really tired of listening all those loops back to recall how they sound. A while ago I worked with some dude from college who had a program called Drumcore. The fun thing is that, apart that it's a library on its own, it can organize REX2 files and with one click you can switch from playing one loop to another.

I'm not planning on buying Drumcore. What I need is simply a program that can show you the files in a directory and lets you play it when you click it. Opening them in RiffWorks is waaaaay to much work if you don't know what you need.

Is any of you aware of such an application? I would appreciate it if you can help me on track. I'm strictly using RiffWorks on my humble 4 year old notebook so I'm not planning on installing a huge DAW for just this task. I'm looking for a bare-bones solution.

I thank you very much for your help. Kind Regards,

Ize

The only places I know to audition REX files are in Reason or using Drumcore. But incorporating REX loop auditioning into RiffWorks would be a good idea. Anyone know of some other ways to do it for less money?

Yeah it would certainly be cool if RiffWorks would be little more REX2 friendly, seeing that I have thousands of REX2-files stored on my computer. Come on guys, you must have another idea of you how to quickly check your samples. Let's hear it! :)

Hi all, I just thought to bump my older topic to see if there's an app or other solution to my 'I have too many REX2 files' -problem. Again: Let's hear it!!!

EDIT
I might be a little ignorant but what would you call an application like this? A stand-alone REX2 loop browser? I'm googling but can't really find anything.

I know it's an old post but my question is still valid...

That's why I bump this topic. Is there an easy application for OS X that you can run and listen to REX2 loops while you can skip to other loops in a directory with a push on a button?

Drumcore is simply amazing! Great sounding loops and a brilliant scheme to organize and audition them. If you can somehow swing it, buy Drumcore. This is the cheapest I have seen it: http://www.esoundz.com/details.php?ProductID=1496

I agree that Drumcore is fantastic but it's too much for what I need. I'm using REX2 loops from Betamonkey and I only need something like a light loopplayer where I can organize and listen to thousands of different loops without the hassle of having to use multiple clicks before hearing a file. Thanks for your advice though. ;)

Let me add this...

Who of you have ever used ReCycle? When you want to open a REX file from the menu, it opens some sort of explorer window in which you can find the folder and files you're looking for. There's an auto play function built in so you just have to select the file in order to play it. You can go right to playing another file by just clicking it or use the arrow buttons while you see the list.

This is what I need. Sadly enough I don't need the whole ReCycle program. Just a way to check out my REX files. So I'm not going to buy ReCycle.

Reaper now reads rex files. They can be auditioned from the media browser.

There's a full functional evaluation version right? That might be something! Thanks!

It's still not what I'm looking for. Can I make a feature request for the development team? :)

Can you add an instant play functionality to the browser window of the REX Player? Please check out the browser window of ReCycle to see what I mean.

It makes it a whole lot easier to digg through my REX library. I can't afford ReCycle and I should not have to. It takes me forever to find the right loops...
