I want to use Riffworks and Cubase 4 Studio together.

I will use Riffworks for basic tracking - and Cubase for MIDI tracks with VST instruments. I want to have Cubase trigger Riffworks (or vice-versa)

I have heard that this is possible via the ReWire feature in Riffworks.

When I go to the Riffworks ReWire button in the "Backups" screen - I am not able to select the ReWire button with a checkbox - I cannot check it.

Is this feature intentionally disabled in the Line 6 version of Riffworks 2?

Or do I need to have Cubase running in the background?

Please advise on the best method for running both applications in tandem (sync'd together).

Thanks.

Rewire uses a Master and Slave arrangement. RiffWorks only acts as a Master, so you can't control it from Cubase. It would be cool though!

I think you are out of luck with syncing them together, but you can export the tracks from RiffWorks as wav files and import them to Cubase if you want to.

Okay thanks.

Do you know if ReWire is an available feature on the Line 6 version of Riffworks 2?

I see the ReWire button - but when I try to click the checkbox, nothing happens.

yes line 6 version has rewire,i switched to the standard to use my delta44 audio card. both versions rewire but only as the master.i havent been able to sync riffworks with anything as a slave. i use it with reason3 and it rewires with no probs, either version.

Thank you klascojoe.

Do I have to do anything special to make the ReWire checkbox active in Riffworks?

I cannot checkmark it for some reason -

I have located some info on the Sonoma support pages.

Reading more on this now.

to try and answear the question you have asked three times.
i use line 6 version 2. all i do is click on the rewire box and a tick apears in the box. if this is not happening for you try relaoding your line 6 software. you may have to remove the prograhm first and then redownload it.
hope this helps if not sorry.

no i did nothing special,i didn't use rewire until i got reason and it just worked on its own.it was pretty much automatic.but then again propellerheads developed rewire and reason,it is meant to run as a slave application. i dont know if your software can slave to a rewired application or not.i do know it has to slave to riffworks to work,i dont think riffworks will operate as a slave.

Yep a354stud.

For sure I cannot get the ReWire checkbox selected. So I probably will uninstall and reinstall tomorrow.

I got a few more questions . . . .

If I do re-install the software - I want to be sure it won't wipe out my already recorded (and saved) files . . . .

I saved the RiffWorks Songfile to my E: Drive (Windows PC) - and it looks to be about 40MB - which seems right for a 3.5 min. uncompressed stereo tune. Is that all I need to be concered about when saving songs?

I'm asking this because When I go to Audio Recording Setup Button in RiffWorks - I see the "Recording File Path" button - which is currently set for C: Drive - but when I try to re-direct the audio recording path to my E: Drive - it refuses.

So I wonder if my software install got messed up somehow . . .

When Riffworks records audio - what file format is being used ?? (WAV, AIFF) ?

Within Riffworks whilst it's running the layers in the riffs are individual wave files. When you save the song file to your harddrive Riffworks compresses everything along the lines of a zip file. I hope this answers one question for ya.
