Sorry for a "newbie" question. Is there anyway to get a decent bass sound in Riffworks from a regular guitar?

First, newbies and their questions are always welcomed here – so welcome!

RiffWorks comes with studio effects but I suspect you asking about bass modeling using a six string guitar. Before repairing my bass, I tried to created a bass tone using "Fake o bass" which is a preset in Riff Effects. It worked okay but was limited.

Can you clarify what interface device and what other software (e.g., GearBox) you’re using?

Anyway, just a little more info might help us help you.

Thanks for the reply - I'll try the Fake o Bass

At the moment I've only just started using the Standard Riffworks with a Telecaster through an M-Audio JamLab. But I imagine I'll upgrade at some point.

thanks again

The best way to get the sound of a particular instrument (without playing that specific instrument) that I've found would be the Roland GR20 guitar synth, though it does require you mount a special pickup to your guitar.

Hey krs1226, that's not a bad start-up kit! This issue has appeared here serveral times. Some members have concluded that buying a cheap used bass was the best solution. Good Luck and stay active on the forum.

One slightly less conventional option is to put it up on RiffLink and ask someone to add bass for you! Then you can save the song back to your drive and carry on. :)

There is an effect hanging off some of the models called 'sub bass'. I set this and use my neck pickup. If you keep to the fat E and A strings it sort of does the job

I always go into the preset effects and under shaper there is one called bass boost that gives a pretty good bass sound from a 6 string as well. After selecting it you can tweek it a bit as well.
