i was wondering if anybody else is using the xtl with bass x and having the same problem. When i create the patch in gearbox it sounds good but when i record it sounds really muddy and distorted, well not really distorted but just not the way it sounds in gearbox. 'i went to line 6 forumsand downloaded a fix but not really what i was expecting.all i want is a big clean bass tone

i no this isn't a sonoma problem
but somebody here usally has a quick solution

thanx dennis

I'm using the bass expansion with the xtl. I've also noticed this and discovered that the bass tones sound totally different when mixed with guitar tones. If I mute all but bass and drums it sounds the same recorded as in gearbox. It's a matter of finding a patch to match up with the guitars. I have one called "War bass" that sounds like crap alone, but when mixed with overdriven guitars it sounds killer. I'm still not understanding why, but I can send you the patch. Email me if you want it.

Welcome to the wonderful world of mixing :D All these things have to coexist with each other. If you think about bass and guitars, they occupy a lot of the same frequency space and have potential to mess each other up. The bass patch might sound ugly when solo'd but if it stays out of the way of the guitars and compliments it instead, then life is good. The technical explanation might sound like voodoo though ;)

Gator: Yes, but you didn't answer Mickey's "bone in the nose" question. lol

I use a PODxt bean with the bass expansion pack and haven't notice a problem.

Actually the bone is in the nose of the EPauley voodoo doll...you know, the one with the little Buckeyes shirt! Your nose should start itching...right...about....NOW....
