I tried to make some gain automation in the song layers.

It is not possible to to run through the track and make the changes

Is there a way to do this?

there is nothing mensioned about this in the guide or the manual (only about automation for the riff parts)

I have been able to do it (under the info button) while the track plays

Yes , I have done this to, but this is not easy and not so handy

It seems to me that we should pause the play , change gain and play further

Or there must be a total overwiew from the layer where you can change the gain

RiffHealer, if you click on the Songlayers so the info window is showing, you can move the pointer on the songbar up top to any point in the song without it playing. Then you can edit the gain automation. You can hit play on the Riff Recorder section and it will play from the pointer's position, to pause it just click on the pointer again and it will stop playing in it's spot.

I hope that makes sense!

Under the Info button you are automating the sound file itself. There's no automation of faders or rather the volume knobs.

Aw shucks  The songlayer and the info button are my favorite things that came out in v2. I think a lot of folks don't realize they are there!

Play from any point along the songline whilst you've got the info button open on the relevant riff, even temporarily put 5 or 6 copies of it in the songline, and it don't take much to alter gain exactly where you want it and as Gator says, you can fiddle with song layer from any point in the songline, it keeps Bill Gates right out of the picture.
