Hi

I've been thinking about getting a looper pedal (like the digitech jamman or the boxx loop station, but when I think about what I want to do with it, riffworks can nearly do it already.

All I'd want to do is record a loop, and then have it play so I can play over the top of it. is that a way to hook up a foot switch (midi or USB) to my PC so that with a press, I can stop the loop I'm recording and strat to play it back... or am I asking too much??

if it's not possible, would sonoma consider this for the next upgrade please as adding footswitch capabilities and a looper function would be great.

Regards

Not to be cute, but I've put my keyboard on the floor and hit the space bar with my toe to play/stop and Enter to record before. I think that's about your only option today. :)

or what about http://www.techready.co.uk/Assistive-Technology/Foot-Switches/Savant-Elite-Double-Foot-Switch

expensive for 2 programable foot switches, but it's still cheaper than a looper pedal... although only just :-(

hmmm I feel a little DIY coming on... cheap USB keyboard... mutilate it, and but a couple of foot switches....

hmmm I thought those pedals were a little expensive. for a few £ more, I could get a Boss loop station (just the one that's stomp box sized) but it's still a lot... so I've got a usb keyboard, and a couple of spare foot switches, and I'm going to make a USB dual pedal unit :-) all you need is the ability to solder, and an hour of time.

get a cheap USB kayboard: http://www.ebuyer.com/product/105529

open it up (do not plug it into your PC) and in side will be 2 sheets of transparent plastic. like the stuff used on overhead projectors (before they had projectors that worked with PCs). you'll be able to see that when you press a key, it pushes the sheets togethar and makes 2 contacts join. follow those contacts back to the little circuit board, and use a permanent marker to mark which terminals are used. I found that there's a common pin for the space and return, and there's 2 other connections, one for space, one for return.

now you need 2 pedals: http://www.stagebeat.co.uk/P/5089/G028B

you then wire up 2 push to make switches for those contacts, and that's it! you'd either need a small box for the circuit board, or it may fit in the pesal enclosure if you get a pedal like this:

http://www.dolphinmusic.co.uk/page/shop/flypage/product_id/6385

although that pedal will need a little rewiring, I think it should do the trick.

as it happens, I have an old USB keyboard and 2 non latching foot switches, so for me, it'll be an hour of time, and no cash... BARGAIN!

Perhaps Sonoma should come our with their own optional USB footswitch, then add a few extra looping features, and it's an extra feature :-)

Well there aint much to remote control. as not many keyboard shortcuts.

But i can record and play via midi or my custom joypad modification to keyboard shortcuts or midi.

i am looking forwad to more keyboard shortcuts in new version so it can remote controlled a bit.

btw forget pedals.
If you into a a bit of electronics then go buy the cheapest usb joypad (low end chineese work great) with as many buttons. and rip it apart move the circuitry into another enclosure and solder the tiny buttons to biger push buttons and you can have a decent controller (without analog sliders or knobs) and use it to control other software.

if you have a usb pc joystick and want to try to play and record just let me know and i will hunt down my code and upload the utility somewhere.
