Hi all,

I have a PodXT Live.. Was thinking of getting the PODX3 Live.

Is there any problems or compatibility issues between the X3 and RW Standard 2.1?

I have read Line 6 web site and this forum and cant seem to get the exact answer...

Some say it works and other seem to say no...

Please help... GC is holding a PODX3 for me.

[NOTE: PODX3 & PODX3 Live are now compatible with RiffWorks Standard v2.5, RiffWorks Line 6 Edition v2.2.2 and RiffWorks T4 v2.5. This issue has been fixed.]

It won't work with the line6 edition yet though because line6 hasn't added add on capability to the x3 yet, but I have the X3 and Riffworks Standard and there are no problems for me.

Thanks...

Ok so I assume there is no hardware (driver) issue swapping out the XT for X3?

Do I need to delete any drivers or anything..

Any advice ?

Great news.. I'm off to GC !!

There is at least one critical update for the X3 that fixes some issues and you will need to download and install the new drivers. Just register your unit, turn it on with usb and then run the Line6 monkey update utility.

I was just about to come on here and ask if these Line 6 pre amp or whatever these things are called can work without the Line 6 riffworks edition.

Good to know they can.

i have the X3L and riffworks standard. they work fine.

Meesh: there are many (I can count 11 from memory) line6 'preamps' that can be used with USB to record from. becauseful not to just 'assume' that they're all the same, as they're not. please check the compatibility for a specific device (like the X3L we're discussing) will work with the version of riffworks you have! otherwise you may be disapointed. that's not to say most stuf doesn't work, but usually the one time you assume something, is the one time you buy something that's not compatible!

UPDATE:

I purchased a Line 6 Pod X3 Live and after further playing/testing.. I have determined that the Line 6 PODX3 Live is NOT working properly as a recording device.

I have tried to make it work on 3 different computers and the same problem happens... After a few seconds of recording the audio cuts out. Then if I simply unplug the USB cable and re-insert it .. the software resets the audio and it works A-Ok (for a few more seconds). The problem happens on record AND / OR playback.

To test further...On each computer (after having the problem)... I replaced the PODX3 Live with the PODXT Live and it all works flawlessly.

Also, there is a thread on the Line 6 forum which is nearly 30 days old... showing that many users are having this same exact problem.... AND it is not limited to RiffWorks or any specific recording application.

See Line 6 Thread here

I just got a toneport UX2 and it is not working when in riffworks.

I select the Line 6 ASIO driver and can use Amplitube just fine while the toneport is plugged in but can't get anything out of the toneport itself...

Any suggestion?

So Jason, my PODxt is about to go on the blitz (screen fading). Now that you've owned the X3 (isn't it an X3Live) a while, what do you recommend? Should I consider purchasing the X3 or repairing the xt?

Well I had my reasons for getting the X3 though I don't think it was a necessity. The XTL kicks booty all on it's own. But I didn't have model packs on the XTL and I wanted them. I really wanted a bean instead of a floor unit too so it can sit on my desktop. It isn't a huge upgrade but was well worth it imo.

You'll have to decide if all the new features are worth the upgrade price, and don't forget the X3L has an effects loop and balanced direct outs if that interests you. You should also consider repairing the unit versus the resale valur of your XTL.

Have you fired up GearBox? If you've just purchased a TonePort, the GearBox application is likely to have come with out-of-date drivers. Use your Line 6 Monkey to update everything.
Cheers!

Yep, thanks. I forgot I had to do the same thing with the stealthplug...so far things are moving along.

Thanks Scott.
