Line 6 Pod X3 Live
RW Standard (Box)
PC / AMD 64x2 Dual Core 3800+ /1GB Ram /OS = Win XP Home

I just installed my new Riff Works (Box). I have a Line 6 Pod X3 Live...

It will work flawlessly during record for about less than 1 minute and then the audio (output) dies...... I can still see the meters working in the program .

Also if I unplug the USB cable then reconnect .. it then works ok for again less than 1 more minute.

Any advice...

I did a search and see I am not alone with this problem..

I bet the problem has something to do with drivers?

By the way.....I just today changed from a Pod XT to Pod X3 Live... (Did not have issue with Pod Xt)

I guess I will try updating drivers "again"... change out the USB cable. What else>?

Plugged in my (old) POD XT and everything works perfectly.

So this is an issue between the POD X3 and RiffWorks....

Arrrrrrggg.

Hmmm, mine is definately working perfectly. I just ran a test record to be sure and recorded for about 20 minutes without any hicups. Very strange that it would work with the XT and not the X3. Can you verify that are using drivers 3.3.4.2?

Also I have the X3 not the X3L but that really shouldn't make a difference.

Just a thought here but the Pod X3 is a true USB 2.0 device. It will not work if you have USB 1.1. I wish I would have mentioned that in the other thread. If you don't have USB 2.0 you can add a card to a pci slot for really cheap. I've seen them less than $20.

Thanks for the replies guys..

GuitarSlinger...Yes.. I have the latest drivers and my Gigabyte Motherboard with USB 2.0

I also reported this to support... hopefully they will be able to help.

I did a search and see that several others have had this exact problem.

Just to update:

I lose audio on playback or recording.
I found a quick fix.... But it only last a few seconds.

When I simply unplug the USB cable from the X3 Live and re-insert.

Then the words "Resetting Audio Engine " appear on the Riff Timeline

Then everything works for a few seconds then - no audio.

Also I checked and I have a USB 2.0 Motherboard and have tried every USB port .. still same issue

Hoping Sonoma support will get back to me today.

I'm wondering if your chip set is causing problems.
Check this thread out -> http://www.sonomawireworks.com/forums/viewtopic.php?id=3305

It doesn't sound like a RiffWorks problem to me, have you checked for any firmware updates for the X3L ?
No-one remembers what you do or say. Everyone remembers how you made them feel. Allegedly !!!!

Thanks Scott.. I read the thread.

I agree Bill.. It's not a RiffWorks problem exactly. I am hoping since others have had this same issue that RW will have some advice.

I did update everything on the Line6 side.

(the line 6 support site is not working for me either)

Ok.. will hang here and if it doesn't work.. I guess GC will be getting a return or maybe I should exchange? But it seems like it is on the PC side doesn't it?

Hmmm... Or Maybe a new PCI 2.0 card?

But.. shiz all I wanna do is enjoy my music! Since I still have the PodXTL .... maybe I should just stick with it for a while and return the X3L

Might be worth removing your usb device completely using system tools and letting it re-install, maybe got a driver conflict you can't see.

I Checked the Line 6 forum and found that this is an issue with many PODX3 owners and it has nothing to do with RiffWorks.

The problem is not with the DAW or Software ..
it is most likely a driver or USB issue.

http://www.line6.com/support/thread.jspa?threadID=18822&tstart=0

But no response from Line 6 yet.

I would make a post at the Line 6 forum. Also try recording into another application just to rule out Riffworks as a problem. Here's a link to Reaper which will run for 30 days without nagging to buy a liscense. You can also test out the multitracking capability of the PodX3. I was able to record all 8 audio outputs to seperate tracks at the same time via the USB 2.0.

http://www.cockos.com/reaper/download.php

Also on the Line6 Monkey, run a compatability check for Gearbox. It will tell you if all your drives are in DMA mode.

I wouldn't rule out a defective unit yet either.
