Thanks for the update and I'm sorry it's causing issues. At least you have the Pod XT to fall back on for the time being.

Please let us know what the fix is when it's announced by Line 6, and we'll do the same if we hear about it first.

Good news.... is ....I went ahead and installed everything fresh on my other computer... Intel Celeron Laptop 1.60GHz 512MB Ram (it's about 1.5 yrs old).

I installed the PodX3 and RWS on my laptop and it works 100% flawlessly.

So ... I am pleased at the moment...But still want it to work on my main PC.

Hoping Line 6 will help... but it being holiday.. will have to wait.

Ok... All is well !!

Some good news then mate, you might get some problems with that amount of ram but at least you're up and running.

Happy Christmas to ya.

Thanks... I appreciate the support. It's sure frustrating when you get a "new toy" and things don't mesh at first.

Cool .. I have a few days off to play and learn RiffWorks...etc

Also need to figure out why my desktop system is not compatible.

Oh one more question...WedgeBill...
What sort of issues will I have with 512MB.?
I can upgrade my laptop if need be.

Maybe none initially, but as each riff layer is actually a separate wave file in it's own right, the more layers you have in each riff requires more ram and this will start to notice particularly when you play back along a song line. The connections between the riffs can get very glitchy. Most RW users have at least 1gb but recommend 2gb minimum.

Have fun my friend, new guys buy the beer you know ;)

Steve,

The RAM issue may well affect the performance of RW as Bill says. When we first did beta testing on RWStandard, I had the short straw of testing with less than 400Mb RAM. Things worked OK, but it was just slow. Songs with multiple layers and RiffLinked tracks stuttered a lot.
I decided to go 2Gb with my new machine and the difference really is night and day.
Your 512Mb is well under the recommended spec but at least you seem to have got around the initial problems.
Cheers!
Scott

~~ UPDATE ~~

Getting back to the original problem of sound cutting out on my PC rig.

Ok.. I fixed my problem!!!

By adding a PCI USB 2.0 card.

Not sure why..... But my PC's onboard USB just did not work out.

I just installed a Belkin PCI - 5 Port USB 2.0 card and now all is well.

It is always a good feeling to get things working after a stumble..........

Thanks !!

Glad to hear you are up and running on both machines. Now you have Riffworks at home and on the go. Sweet!

check this thread from the Line6 X3 forum: Playback terminates when using X3L as soundcard

I have been watching your posts but hesitated to go against the grain of the RiffWorks alumnus. I have had similar to your problem with my X3L. I have a USB2.0 card and still have the problem. Hope your up and running for good and that took care of it. The unofficial consensus is that the drivers are the culprit. The problem is growing as reports come in almost daily from other members who are experiencing the playback and recording bug - I am one of them and have been having the problem for about 2 months with all of my recording software - so the problem is not exclusive to RiffWorks Standard2. Line6 refuse to comment or log it as a bug for some reason at this time.
Check it out.

Hey now Jisg!

Yes.. I have read that thread on Line 6.

I totally agree it is not a RW problem at all.

ALSO, even though I posted earlier that all is well... it is not.

I did have the "issue" come back last night after a pretty decent session of recording. So I am NOT out of the woods.

I am seriously thinking of returning the PODX3 Live... since I just got it Sunday and within my return period at GC.

I know you need something to work NOW most likely. As for me I still have my XTL that works just fine with all recording programs I use or try, minus the great new X3L features but works and always has...but I strongly urge you - - if you can hold out - Line6 WILL eventually make it GOOD, they always have and I'm sure they will eventually wake up and send out an update (not to mention the untapped power that lies within future updates for the X3. These are words that I would bet money on that I won't be eating). Or get one later and buy an interface that you can depend on now.

If the thunder don't get you then the lightning will.

I have a PodXT Live as well.... I just picked up the X3L on Sunday. I was going to sell the XTL .... But glad I still didn't yet!

After further testing.. the X3L is failing on both my AMD Dual Core Desktop and my Intel laptop.

I am def going to be returning the X3L .. no sense and keeping it until a fix is out.

Thanks!

Well then...
Case closed.
Glad you still have the XTL. Loads of those forum guys hocked their stuff to get the X3. I'm glad I didn't ...mine is fully loaded and I just can't see dumping $700 (the original price and all the add-ons) for $200 on eBay - and who ever didn't need a back up? Least ways you won't be pi$$ed if GearBox is late or full of bugs in January.
Nice talking to ya and I'll restrain myself from another lyrics quote this time it was just nice running into a Jerry fan - I was beginning to feel Old and in the Way around here. Oops!

UPDATE:

Bummer............

After further playing/testing.. I have determined that the Line 6 PODX3 Live is NOT working as a recording device.

I have tried to make it work on 3 different computers and the same problem happens... After a few seconds of recording the audio cuts out. Then if I simply unplug the USB cable and re-insert it .. the software resets the audio and it works A-Ok (for a few more seconds). The problem happens on record AND / OR playback.

To test further...On each computer (after having the problem)... I replaced the PODX3 Live with the PODXT Live and it all works flawlessly.

Also, there is a thread on the Line 6 forum which is nearly 30 days old... showing that many users are having this same exact problem.... AND it is not limited to RiffWorks or any specific recording application.

See Line 6 Thread here
http://line6.com/support/thread.jspa?threadID=18822&tstart=0

(side note.. Sonoma Wire Works tech support have been very "supportive" throughout the past few days.... I wish I can say the same for Line 6 )

Thanks Randy and Hayden !
