People should take individual support requests instead of posting in a big thread. Line 6 does not even look at threads that aren't marked as a question. Even though Line6 posted in the thread linking to a KB article, that article didn't look very promising. Hopefully a driver update will come quick.

We didn't even have drivers for a month when I bought it and I used the Spdif to my soundcard and to be honest, most of the time I have it lined into my toneport for convenience. It does work for me though with the X3 driver.

USB audio can be frustrating and sometimes things just don't play well together. I think they can fix it with an update though.

I posted my findings here at the request of Sonoma support.

GuitarSlinger...Thanks for the reply... But my reference to the thread in the Line 6 forum was to make potential buyers aware of the issues the X3 Live has..... it shows that my problem is not an isolated incident.

Had I known about this problem.. I would not be complaining and would have either not purchased it to work with RWS or I would sit back and wait for fix.

USB can be tricky... But this is a Line 6 problem.. NOT a USB problem.

The fact is.. Line 6 is aware of this problem and still advertises that the X3 Live works as a USB audio interface.

I am OK...I have a XTL that does the job for me ... But I wanted the added features of the X3L.

I certainly did not spend $500 for the X3 to wait for a fix..

Oh yes I agree. The XTL is tried and true and works great unless you have one of the chipsets that doesn't play nice with it. I wouldn't be too happy either, I feel a little bad for recommending it, I didn't know there were issues.

Ya know, if nobody gets these things as soon as they come out, the rest of us would never know there were issues! Think of it this way, I'm sure you've collectively saved a lot of people a bunch of headaches! :D

Little consolation I know, but there's always a bright side, no matter how faint ;)

dude! It was "about time" a couple days ago!

Rather than waiting for the POD X3L to work as a USB recording interface.. I returned it to GC and will use the PODXTL for now. BTW, the XTL has always been great for me and the tones can't be beat for the money.

But I do want to record vocals too... (that was one of the reasons for X3L .. since it had that capability and more) ..... so I am now in search of suitable add on device and a decent microphone.

Not sure if we need to start a new thread... but any suggestions would be appreciated.

I am currently looking at UX2 and the M-Audio FastTrack USB. As for the microphone... I am not sure?

Gatorjj - Anytime you're in the neighborhood the first round is on me!

Toneport UX2 gets my vote and it's got a space right on the top, in between the silver twiddly bits, that's ideal for standing a pint mug on. Keyboard version is good too, I hear but all that tiptapping on the keys can spill stuff, I reckon. I got 2 old SM58's no problemo.

Uncle Bill
No-one remembers what you do or say. Everyone remembers how you made them feel. Allegedly !!!!

My first RW setup for vocals was a PODxt fed with a dynamic Peavey through a XLR to 1/4" cable. It was good. I got a $49 MXL990 condenser next and ran it through a Mackie Mixer (for phantom power) and then into the POD. It was a lot better. When RiffWorks v2 Standard came out I got a Focusrite Saffire and unfortunately I was now able to hear my mic  and thus needed a new one. I got a Studio Projects T3 and have been very happy ever since...especially since now I'm broke

My only point in all this is it doesn't take much to get good vocals in RiffWorks, and you can spend thousands to get great results. But it helps the most if you can sing really really well! I haven't found the preset for that though ;)

Any of the Presonus, Focusrite, MBox interfaces should do you well. A lot of guys around here use the UX2 with good results. There's a list of recommended interfaces here.
