I have guitarport/rifftracker and when I save a song, it only saves as .rws. I want it as .mp3. Thanks if you can help. .rws seems worthless, I can't upload my songs anywhere(specifically myspace).

You have to hit the mix button, top left of RW and save as wave or high quality ogg. Having done this you have to do an external conversion to mp3. Audacity which is free to download along with the lame mp3 encoder is one of many ways to do it. Seems long-winded but it's the only way I know.

Hope this helps.

+1 on Audacity. The best freeware linear editor I've used. No Riffworks user should be without it.

i keep a folder on my desktop of wav and mp3's i took from rw. it keeps them handy for myspace and such and you still have the rws files in riffworks.

don't forget the lamemp3 thing.

I use Advanced MP3/WMA recorder and editor. You can save a wave to a number of things such as, WAV to MP3, WMA, OGG, and others and vice versa. You can even raise or lower decibel levels to any part of the song, add fade-ins and fade-outs. Pretty much like sound forge.

Mike -

Once you convert to .wav or .ogg, you can use Switch. This program is free, stable, and will convert to just about anything you please. Another benefit is that it'll take a 50mb .wav file and reduce it to approximately 5 mb when converted to .mp3. The program can be found here:

Hope this helps...
