Is it possible to export a song created in Riffworks into Protools LE to do the mix?
...it's all so horribly awesome...

Yes....You wont be able to control individual levels ...but you can add a finishing mix to the over all product.

Bounce your RW file to High Quality OGG File....then open that up in Audacity and convert to wave. Then open a new session in Pro Tools and import the wave file....then you can use all of your plug ins and such in Pro tools to master your tune!!

Good Luck!

Can't you just save it out of RiffWorks as a .wav file?
Cheers!

What pauliemac is asking is whether he can do the mixing in ProTools. Sure you can, but it takes a few steps and a few exports.

Basically you want to solo each instrument across the song, one at a time and do an export to wav for each. You'll end up with several wav files you can import into ProTools.

You might want to make sure the levels are consistent across the riffs first to save yourself from a lot of automation in ProTools. If you have effects on the riffs you might want to remove those first as well.

That's certainly the way I've done it with the studios I've been uploading tracks to. Takes a while but I've had the luxury of relying on studio engineers to worry about levels/eq etc.
Cheers!

Well not each riff but each part (bass, rhythm, lead, drums, etc.). For example, solo the bass in each riff and export to wav...now you have a wav that is the bass. I usually end up with 5 or 6 wav tracks that I'll export if I want to go work in another program.

Thatsa what I do. Export the individual riff and/or song layers and IDs. If a grouped rhythm guitar track mixes well enough in RW you can maybe just export that group if you're happy with its particular mix in RW. Doing this will also let ya bust up some of the drummers and use in different ways than you do in RW. You can introduce some slight off beats and/or time shifts and such in areas to give a particular loop a lil more variety.

(Now back to De-esssing a damn vocal track I bothched)

I also solo each riff when I want to do some things that riffworks won't . I don't use protools but i did just upgrade to Adobe Audition3 and love it. Gator good advice! You took the words right out of my mouth...

Hi Cristina, welcome to the Sonoma forum!

I'm pretty sure ProTools requires a compatible interface to run. If you have an M-Audio interface you can download a demo here. A lot of studios run it and I think it's that compatibility that is the main appeal, especially if you want to do some work yourself and some at a pro studio.
