I just got Riffwork for Chistmas..... I have it installed onto my computer. Do I need any special gear like a "lightsnake" or an iterface or my guitars? Or does anyone have a suggestion as to how to get my guitar recorded on to my Riffwork.

You sure do, most guys seem to have Guitarport,Stealthplug, Line6 Pod XT Live or Toneport amongst others. Basically you need an ASIO device, someone will soon chip in with more detailed info but if you start from the RiffWorks home page you can soon find a list of all the supported devices.

Have fun mate, before they start telling you that new guys buy the beer ;)

Which version of RiffWorks have you got? - Line 6 version or 'Standard'? We need to know that before recommending anything because the Line 6 version only supports Line 6 devices (POD, TonePort, GuitarPort).
'Standard' supports these plus other tested devices from other manufacturers, like TASCAM, MBox etc.
You might want to check here to see which version does what -> http://www.sonomawireworks.com/riffworksfeatures.php
and here to see which hardware you can use with 'Standard' -> http://www.sonomawireworks.com/guide/index.php/Recommended_Hardware

My own set up started with GuitarPort and has moved to a TonePort UX2. (The Line 6 website will give you details) because it does everything I need it to do - instruments, vocals. It also comes with GearBox which is Line 6's amp modelling software. I'd certainly recommend considering this.

BTW, don't encourage Bill with enticements of alcohol. He already has a water retention problem and pints of the 'black stuff' will only make him worse!! ;)
Cheers!
Scott

Pity you didn't know about Stealthpug as it's on special offer bundled with RiffWorks. Depending on your budget and what you intend to do there's quite a few choices. I have and would recommend Toneport UX2, it'll do for guitar, bass, keys etc and it does a particularly good job on vocals (You have to install and run Gearbox if you have Line6 version of RiffWorks or if you have RW standard it has Amplitube lite bundled and you can pull that up from within RW).

If you're only into guitar heroics and can afford it the Line6 Pod XT Live is excellent.

Click the store button at the top of the page and you'll see details of a few options there.

Line 6 has it all, and it Rocks! If you want to re-produce "live" what you have recorded, I would suggest Line 6's new POD X3 Live. It comes fully loaded with all the amp and effects models and has all the in and out ports needed for any situation.

I also got RiffWorks Standard and a Toneport UX2 for Christmas and am loving it! Still trying to figure out everything I can do with it, but am getting there.
I would definitely recommend the UX2 for use with RW.
