Hey!

The other week I purchased the GuitarPort with Riffworks and absolutely love it!

However, when I use Riffworks, every now and then it will become unresponsive and crash. Thus forcing me to close the program down, however when I re-boot the program, I will have no sound even though I can see the VU meters move. I have to restart the my (Vista) laptop to get sound in Riffworks back.

I've re-installed the program but I the problem still remains. I have all the latest updates, well least I think so, Line 6 Monkey is saying I'm all up to date.

How can I fix this?

Many Thanks

Reece

Hi Reece and welcome to the RW forum!

What spec. is your machine?
You should be able to unplug, wait, then plug in your GuitarPort again to get the sound back, without rebooting.
Are you getting any error messages when the software crashes?
Cheers!
Scott

Hey Scott.

Its a Compaq Laptop with a AMD Turion 64 X2 TL-58, 2GB RAM, Nvidia GeForce graphics card, 160GB HDD with Vista Home Premium.

GearBox works fine and so does Riffworks most of the time. I'll have to try unplugging and replugging it back in. It seems simple thus meaning I would of tried it. But I can't remember for the life of me =D.

Nah, I don't get messages. It mainly happens at playback, saving or exporting the track.

Also, is it normal for me to only have the demo drummer? Because on the Line 6 website, I should have :
* Afro Island Grooves
* Discrete Drums - Bare Bones
* Drums On Demand - Habanero Groove
* Drums On Demand - Half Nelson
* Drums On Demand - When I Drum Around
* Mekanic Beats
* Submersible Music - Matt Sorum Basic
* Trash Funk

Thanks for your help

Am I right in saying you've got the RiffWorks Line 6 edition?
Cheers!

Yep.

I've got my drummers now.

It's just the 'random' freezing that is giving me a problem.

It's version 2.1 btw

Hi Rekuss,

The reason you lose sound is when RiffWorks crashes, it leaves the Line 6 ASIO driver in a bad state. If you just unplug the GuitarPort, wait 5 seconds, and plug it back in, you shouldn't have to reboot Vista to get going again.

The next time you crash, please send any dump files, and the RiffWorks.log file to support@sonomawireworks.com. The RiffWorks.log file is here:
My Documents/Sonoma Wire Works/RiffWorks/RiffWorks.log

thanks!

I'm having the same problem at times on my vista laptop. I was looking to see if there was a fix when I searched and found this thread. Mine also seams to crash most often when saving. It does save but as soon as it's done it's frozen then I have to close everything re open it unplug the tone port and plug it back in to get it to run again. Every thing else works great though. I am having a blast with this software so far though.

That's correct, riffworks takes your ASIO driver and drops him off in Louisiana. Ya know, my driver is a real ASIO too!

Hey Beau, I must have your driver's twin brother over here. He's a complete ASIO as well! ;)
Cheers!
