Dug. Thanks for all the hard work that's gone into riffworks. I'm sure you guys are dog tired from all the sleepless days and nights. I hope that you won't take anything I'm about to say as offensive in any way. Only meant to convey how I feel about the software ok?
First, let's get one thing perfectly straight. I think Riffworks is the greatest thing since distortion. I'm so happy to have found it as I found myself getting back into music this time around. But I feel that Rifflink is incomplete without some sort of mechanism that solves the drum issue. Either rifflink needs to have it's own set of drummers that people can freely use, or it needs to only allow the stock drummers that come with riffworks, or it needs to mix to riff all the drum parts automatically, whatever. But if you ask me, as long as it's possible for a person to log into a song, and NOT hear the drums, it's incomplete.
And while I love the riffworks software, I won't be paying for monthly rifflink service if it means I have to fork out another ten bucks every time I want to collaborate on something that I don't own the drummer for. It's not that I can't afford ten bucks Dug, but the last two times I bought drummers, I bought them so that I could hear them in a collab. Each time, I felt like a bit of a sucker.
And believe me, I HAVE considered buying ALL the drummers so that I can participate in rifflink comfortably no matter what someone posts, but as quickly as you guys put out new drummers, I'd be out of date within a couple of months and would again have to fork out dough.
I DO love the software. The community is awesome, as is the staff at Sonoma. And while I may be a bit skeptical about buying any new instant drummers for the time being, know that I'm behind what you guys are doing 100%. I've believed from the beginning in rifflink and what it represents. Knowing that in our lifetime, we very likely will NOT be able to jam in real time online, it's great to know that rifflink has done a wonderful job of providing us with the next best thing. When it's done, I'm sure that most musicians savvy enough to be hooked into their computers will know and use Rifflink.
That said, I'd like to know how the rifflink trial and subscriptions will be done and when they will start. Will it be possible to put off my 60 day trial period until AFTER something happens with the drums? Or are we all obligated to start our trial period right away?
Beau
