Hi again Dug and the Sonoma Wire Works crew...

Just another suggestion...

I know for sometime now there has been some debate over what should and should not be included in Riffworks (mastering suite, auto fades etc...)

I would like to table the possibility of a Riffworks "Professional" Edition that would include some of the more advanced recording options and keep Rifwworks Standard as the basic recording package for folks just starting out with home recording.

I think it would stay true to the "keep it simple" philosphy and still give more advanced users an option to upgrade to.

Something to think about...

Damn I'm up way too early!!! LOL

ciao

Thanks Chip.

What would you pay for something like that? How many other people would be seriously interested in having RiffWorks do that?

I'd gladly spend a couple hundred more to be able to master from within Riffworks, especially if it allowed layers to be moved or copied from riff to riff.

I would definately pay for it as an upgrade to Riffworks Standard.

I think it would have to be along the same lines of keeping the processes and interface simple but offering more advanced usability for those who require it.

I think most of us would like to stay within Riffworks for final processing of our music rather than importing files into another program like Soundforge, Adobe Audition etc...

Good excuse to sell more software...LOL

Michelle,

I like how easy Riffworks is to use for beginners, and even for advanced users who want to get an idea recorded quickly. But I think Timejunkie's idea of having a "Standard" and "Professional" version is a really good one.

I would definitely pay $100 more on top of Riffworks existing sticker price if there were more mixing and mastering tools, and like Timejunkie said, keep my compositions in Riffworks from beginning to end with no need for external apps.

Yes pooterpatty more real time mixing capability would be great!
Mastering suite would be a must....

I believe a "Professional" edition would fly....

Now why do I have a gut feeling like the Sonoma gang may already have this in the works.....???? ; )

It's a natural progression on a timeline in my opinion, but as a business, they have to make sure there's a market for it, and I definitely think there is.

I would like to make one point. I think Riffworks Standard needs to stay where it is, price-wise and functionality-wise. When I first bought Riffworks, it was because of the low price and the integrated drums. At the time I was not confident in my songwriting ability (I still struggle with it!), and as such wasn't willing to sell a non-essential organ just to finance recording software.

If Riffworks hadn't been priced where it is, I would never have bought it, meaning I never would have met any of the great people on this forum who have influenced and inspired me more than they know, and all of the song ideas that Riffworks has allowed me to record would remain just that - ideas.

Group "huge" everyone :D

I agree it is a natural progession and the price points need to make sense against what already is out in the market.

I think there is a place for a fully functional professional version of Riffworks if it remains simple to use and relatively inexpensive.

What keeps folks like me away from Pro Tools etc.. is th size of the user manual and the price tag. I wanna make music not read manuals.

Is that another group huge I see there Pooter? I must have led a sheltered existance as I'm not aware of what this is, and I'm a little bit suspicious to be honest....

Pooter is currently rehearsing the speech he needs to make for his election as President. Consequently he needs to talk a vast amount of old bollocks. Quite simply a group huge is the superlative of a pair of smalls !!!

The next word he needs to practice will be nuclear pronounced as nuwckyolar, bear with him a while please
No-one remembers what you do or say. Everyone remembers how you made them feel. Allegedly !!!!
