Howdy y'all

I'm using the Rifftracker setup, had it for several years now. I began having some audio trouble, so I saved all my tones, drummers, & song files to a different folder, uninstalled GuitarPort/Gearbox/Line6 Monkey/Riffworks, & reinstalled everything.

RW is saying it's not activated; not sure what I need to do next. The only thing it tells me is "go to Line6.com for info."

A different problem is with my GuitarPort/Gearbox, it won't call up my saved tones. Gives me a warning about a bad driver or something (not in front of music PC at the moment, sorry).

Rrrggghh. I've uninstalled/reinstalled/updated everything mulitple times & made sure I have the latest updates installed, but I cannot play guitar through my pc or record since. I guess I should've left well enough alone, but the hiccups the system was having were driving me crazy.

Any input/advice/sympathy is welcomed! :D

Hi Curt, been there still deal with it. If you're saved tones drummers and song files are still there, then you don't need to worry (and they should be)

I think its a matter of having the directory and the registry looking for the drivers and files in the correct place or where the program can find them.

If I'm not speaking out of context here, my impression is Gearbox, Monkey and
Riffworks are all separate programs that interact with one another. Simply put, if one is out of whack in reading or linking up to another, it ain't gonna work.

There's a similar problem and a workaround for the RW activation dealing with hitting refresh after you've entered the key. Try using the search function on the forum to come up with an potential answer if nobody else ponies up for a problem resolving response for a while.

Curt, first you have my sympathy! ;)

Second, are we talking about the original Line6 RiffTracker or have you updated to v2? I don't see the v1 in my Monkey and I'm kind of wondering if Line6 took it out somewhere along the line?

Thanks for checking in guys! :)

I had some time before going in to work this morning, & I finally got it working.

After doing the uninstalls, I had to go in & manually delete everything, there was a lot of stuff still installed. I then installed RW 1.0, then install Line6 version RW, then the RW update.

I installed GuitarPort, then GearBox. The GuitarPort problem kept referring to a bad driver; I would update drivers via the Monkey, but the Monkey would keep showing them as not updated after the update & install. The Add & Remove Programs screen only showed the most recent driver set; I had to go in & find the old driver set (2.5.1 if I recall) & remove those, & then the system recognized the newest drivers.

Jeez! What a hassle. I was fortunate through all the uninstalls/installs that I kept my drummers & songs, but I did lose all my saved tone patches. Not a big deal, though, as I've uploaded my favorites to sevenstring.org's patch library, so I can just grab them from there.

I use the GuitarPort as my main amp, so man, am I glad to have it back!

Hi Mhconst,

In the future, please start a new thread for your specific problem. This helps us keep better track of cases.

Here's what you need to do:

1. Launch the Line 6 Monkey (Start - All Programs - Line 6 - Tools - Line 6 Monkey)
2. Under "Optional Add-ons", select "RiffWorks 2 Line 6 Edition"
3. Once selected, click "Activate Purchase"
4. Type the word "refresh" (without the quotes) and then click the "Activate Purchase" button
5. Close the Monkey and open RiffWorks

Did that fix the problem?
