When I mix a song down to .wav format it is much quieter than I originally recorded it. Is there any fix for this?

Hey Minke,

What I usually do it have my main output where it's clipping just a little in Riffworks (the two MASTER level meters at the top). Not enough to really distort it, but more output level than you think you'd need.

After mixing that down to a wav your mix should be a little louder, but may not be where you want it. For post processing I recommend a program called Audacity (it's free, Google it). You can amplify your original wav file, sweeten the mix a bit if you like. From Audacity, save as an OGG file and upload to Riffworld, where your awesome mix will gain you the adoration of millions. OK I can't guarantee that last part, but I hope this'll get ya started anyway.

pooterpatty,

What would be the pointers in terms of amplifying the original wav file of your songs?

Which way is the best to tweak it and sweeten the mix before the mastering?

I haven't used audacity in a while. I was just curious about your input on audacity. Peace.
