This has been driving me mad and I can't figure it out. I notice that when I post to RiffCaster the volume of my song is always at a lower volume level than the other songs. Is there a setting on Riffworks I'm missing, or is it something with GearBox that has to be adjusted? Anyway, I am incredibly bad with the mixing aspect of recording and would really appreciate any suggestions anyone might have.

Thanks in advance...and Happy Easter!

When you record your instruments, vocals etc. make sure you're hitting the high end of the green LEDs. You can do this by increasing the gain in RW or in GearBox. RiffCasting takes away your ability to adjust the mix levels but playing your song through a few times prior to 'Casting should help you judge as you 'Cast more of them. Try adding some compression via the FX as this can sometimes lift things.
I prefer to RiffCast via the RiffWorld website where you can upload your .ogg file after tweaking it - using RW FX and/or Master Gain (but keep things below levels that show clipping) and/or an audio conversion package like Audacity (free download). Audacity will allow you to Equalise your mix or generally just increase the over all volume.
Cheers!

Thanks for the response Scott. I thought I was hitting high in the green...which is funny because I usually have issues with the mix being too hot. Now if I may be a pain and ask what the different volume controls are in GearBox, (e.g. out to hardware, monitor, & record) in relation to RiffWorks? The monitor one is is pretty obvious, but not sure about the other two. I just figure I must be missing something because the volume and sound quality of my songs are lacking...playing ability aside:) Anyway, thanks again for your help.

The 'out to hardware' knob controls the audio level being sent through the "Analog Outs" (and/or headphone out) of your Line 6 device (TonePort or GuitarPort). It affects the signal being sent through your monitors and the playback levels coming in to your TonePort/GuitarPort from RiffWorks. It doesn't affect the signal level being sent to RiffWorks. Basically, turn it down and the volume from your monitors goes down but the record levels to RiffWorks stays the same.
The "Monitor" knob does more or less the same thing but it works independently.
The "Record" knob alters the levels of the 'record' signal going to RiffWorks.

If your signal has poor volume, you can use the '+18' button to boost the signal.

For my recordings, I have everything (rightly or wrongly) set at maximum and I use RiffWorks to control what's 'hot' or not. I'm also not adverse to tinkering with amp models by 'upping' the 'Volume' controls to boost the signal.

Don't give up whatever you do. It's mighty frustrating, I know.
I never seem to be able to get two songs to sound the same ... but persevere with it and note down what works and what doesn't.
Cheers!
