hardattack,
I don't know how ram you have - but if you're using Vista; two GB is better than one (I have 3). When I used xp, memory was never an issue for me.

I had 2 512mb cards in my laptop and 5 to 6 layers with some effects was all it would handle before it started glitching wich was annoying because when I played back a recording it would have spots with no sound and I would have to mix to riff then add another layer. I just upgraded to two 1 gig cards and so far it's working great.

I wonder though is there anyway to mix to riff without having to deconstruct the song time line , mix to riff, then put the song back together again? That is a bit time consuming when you have to do it often.

I am using vista by the way and it does eat ram. I am running as lean as possible though.

i wanted to mix to riff like that also but i guess you cannot.

that would be a good thing if they can make it happen.

Laptops suffer from heat build up much worst than desktops, which in turn hurts the processors ability to function at optimum performance. At that point the ram won't matter. If you are going to keep using the laptop you might try a good cooling pad (extra fans) to remove the extra heat. It helped mine a lot when using it.

I concur - cooling pad is an excellent suggestion.

Hi epauley,

I think we're getting to the bottom of this...

Try turning the POD on, then going to the system sound settings and selecting the Creative as the default output. Then try doing delete all in RW.

I bet it will work:)

Sounds like the Line 6 drivers can't handle playing system sounds on Vista while ASIO is running. Major bummer:( I hope it's not like that on XP too. As soon as we can confirm 100% I'll be talking to Line6.

We will be testing it all here, but can anyone else confirm or deny this on XP and Vista?

cheers,

Yes, RWS is working well. I am experiencing some minor issues with GearBox since the latest update – but that a Line 6’s matter.
