Is there any way to convert files to mp3?

Do I need another recording software to re-record the
Riff Work file while its playing back?

I Just want to put my tracks on my mp3 player

I have an EMU 1212M sound card
(no other recording software installed yet)

Cheers
Rick

You can RiffCast your song, then go to your song's page on RiffWorld.com. There you'll find a handy MP3 download link of your tune.

You can also check this thread for lots of suggestions about using other free programs, like Audacity with RiffWorks:

Maybe someone can help...Im still using Riffworks line6 Edition and some of the guys on here have advised me to crossover to R/Works Standard. Do I really need to and what is the benefits in doing this. Does it run better than the line6 edition????.

Cheers

Hi Ian,

The upgrade cost in minimal (about 29 dollars I think). To be honest there is not much difference in actual programs, although the Line6 version only works with Line6 products. However, with the standard version you also get a scaled down version of Amplitube and it's worth it for that alone. Amplitube clean tones are real nice. Also, I think standard tends to get the upgrades first. I would do it if I were you.

Hi Ian!

Funny thing, I upgraded yesterday. One big difference for me is that Riffworks Standard hasn't crashed one single time yet, Line6 Edition crashed all the time for me. Don't know why.

Another handy thing is that it is possible to controll external sequencer programs (like Propellerheads Reason) and use thhem as synts or drummachines through the reWire protocoll. I'm just about to test that!

Believe me Ian, I was a major procrastinator and skeptic in doing this but it was a painless process. The bigger pain the arse was having L6 version crash all the time.
Sonomas version seems MUCH more stable.

IMO, Its worth the money as you get a few perks too, (VST plugins) even for Mac users. I just never got around to doing screenshots. (thanks to Mary for prompting me on that!!)

For me, the flexibility to be able to switch L6 hardware devices and not be limited to just one device being activated with RW is worth the price all by itself.

I wish I would have done soooo much sooner.
You won't regret it one bit.

Hi All,

I d loaded audacity and lamemp3 and opened a small 5 mg file
converted it to mp3, without a problem

I tried the next file 43mg, and and other at 32 mg, Audacity crashes and
asked to send report to micro soft, bummer

I open a small test file again only 3 mg and no problems.

Is anyone having crash issues like that?

My p.c. is:
XP Pro
Emu 1212m sound card
Nvidia Quadro fx 1500
core 2 Quad
4 gig ram
10,000 rpm raptor hard drive

I dont see an option to get patch fixes
i just installed it today
Audacity Ver. 1.2.6.

Any incite would be greatly appreciated

Thanks
Rick

Broncos

Welcome to the forums. A tip though; one post per subject is enough to get an answer to your questions.

I have no idea why audacity is crashing on you. As others suggested, try some other encoding apps and see if you have any luck with those. With machine specs like yours (mine is very similar) you shouldn't have any problems at all, though you have to remember that many apps are created for single-core processors, so your machine's high specs might actually be causing the issue.
