I was wondering if anyone knew of another forum or website that has information on how to make your guitar and amplitube 2 sound like other bands? I want to have a distortion that sound like something along the lines of "rise against" or "The used" but I'm so new to all this programming I have no idea where to start. I know POD has some kind of website that shows you how to program your POD's to make your guitar sound like your favorite bands. any suggestions?

I'm not familar with those bands but start by going through the presets in Amplitube. Any information about the type of guitars and amps those guys use would be very helpful as well as a link to some sound clip.

I love this sound from rise against "prayer of the refugee". when the song starts to pick up about a 2 minutes into the song when the chorus come it

the distortion by the used in pretty handsome awkward has a great sound to it. its a stream though so the quality is little bad:

as for the type of amps im not too sure.I read an interview of rise against saying the just use the distortion out of the marshall stacks but they might have done something different in the studio. hope this helps you get a better idea

I checked out Rise Against on You Tube. Guitar is Gibson Les Paul and high gain Marshall maybe JCM800 or JCM900? Tone is pretty much straight guitar and amp sound.

There should be a British amp model on the Amplitube which will be a good starting point along with a humbucker equipped guitar. Studio recordings are in stereo so try doubling the guitar part by playing it twice and pan them about 75% each way for starters.

Let us know how you do and riffcast something to get more feedback.

The Used is going to be much harder to get. Seems there is alot more going on as far as effects and layering. Check out photo 6 on their website.

Gibson SG, Marshall for high gain, Orange amp for clean/crunch? and a bunch of effects.

Amplitube, I would chain the effects in the Brit model with a 4x12 and at least two if not three distortion pedals and maybe an EQ. You don't need to max them out but you will need to tweak them to get desired gain and tone.

The idea is to build a cascading preamp to get a higher gain effect out of that model. I don't recall if there's a gate on that, but you'll likely need one even with a hum canceling pickup equiped guitar.

I am getting quite the lesson on impulses there. The forum isn't busy, but (like here) they are very friendly and extremely helpful. Like here, no ego-flashing to boot.

You'd almost think guitarists are nice (that was a joke coming from a bass player).

Grinning,
John
