Here's what my screen looked like while working on my latest tune. I finally got Riffworks-rewire figured out. Took me way too long

Got it working equally well in both Project 5 and Kinetic.

I'm with the man on the street on this one; although I'm sure it would be worth it if one was capable of figuring it all out. Me, I still don't understand MIDI....

I design graphical interfaces for a living and I can tell you that the trouble with a computer screen is that it is a small, flat, 2-dimensional space. You have to use so many multiple windows to separate things that in the real world would be easy to distinguish from each other. The thing is, MOST of this stuff LOOKS waaaaay more complicated that it really is. First, learn the user interface (i.e. where all the menus and buttons are and exactly, what they are supposed to do) and then you will grasp the other part of it fairly easily. People just have to spend time with the manual and not be afraid to click on EVERY button and/or menu until they experience what it can do. Video tutorials are big help too (if you can find them!)

Sure, I was thinking of working up a short ebook describing it. Or, maybe I can make a video. Anyone know of any good video screen-capture software that works for more than just games?

The problem with all this stuff is that only a few people can figure out how the hell it works. This is where Riffworks stands out; you plug in, hit record and go nuts, instead of going nuts trying to figure out Rewire this and Reason that and Reaper here and Resomethingorother else. Way too complicated for me.

For the longest time, I've been looking for a program to supplement Instant Drummers and rex files for drums. I just don't see the logic in having to run 4 separate apps just to get some drums into RW. Not to mention the fact that, with that many apps, the chances for me to set one setting wrong (and thus have the whole thing not work at all) increases tenfold.

What I want is RW, and one other program where I can make some drum beats, and just have RW recognize it and record it, just like it does with my GuitarPort.

Reason? Forget it, that defeats the whole purpose of RW, quick and easy recording. If I want complicated, cluttered, and frustrating, I'll go with Reason.

Pooter, have you looked at DrumCore? It runs as Rewire and I think you can program your beats there...I think anyway....

I just checked it out, looks promising. Unfortunately they don't have a demo version available for download, and no information on integration with RW on the site, so I have no idea if it will work with RW.

Is anyone here using Drumcore or Kitcore for Submersible Music?

Their price is $199 for Drumcore, which isn't bad, but too much to pay when I'm not sure it will even work.

I agree Pooter; software makers that don't do demo versions shoot themselves in the fott. For me that price is closer to 300 dollars and that's a boatload of cash for something that might not even work.

you can download Drumcore LT for free. It is pretty simple to use, works with RiffWorks, and comes with one drummer.
