Hang on!
i just performed a surgery on a RIFF.
I set the ASIO driver to 24 Bit
Recorded 1 bar.
Extracted the wave and it is a 16 bit.
Its possible it accepts 24 bit but downsamples it to 16 bit.
But i cannot confirm it if it was rw or podxt or my entire setup was sending 16 bit.
If You can upload a small 24bit exported riff somewhere i can download and perform my tests on it, we can know surely what's up.
Or You can try that yourself and post your findings.
export your riff (better just use one layer and a small riff 1 or 2 bars)
rename the riff file extension to zip or if your program allows it just directly extract its contents 7-zip can do this easyly.
there will be one large .psi file.
fire audacity go to projet>import raw data
use these settings 24 bit unsigned, little endian and 44100 or 48000 depending on your sampling.
if it plays perfect then it is indeed 24 bit.
in my case it didnt, left or right channel had just noise.
and when i imported it as a 16 bit it was fine.
