Hi Mick, I think what you are asking is how to create and use a new riff?

Click the "Create" button in the upper left. It will give you a new riff to play with from scratch. Click on the riff you want to record in. You can record up to 24 layers in each riff. When you have a few riffs recorded into, drag them up top into the songbar and you now have a song.

If I missed the question's intent please let me know!

Cheers,

J.J.

and if you select/highlight any riff in the riff box then click duplicate you'll get an exact replica riff to fiddle about with. That way you can get a backing riff that repeats the basics but with different layers on by recording and or muting layers without having to record the basics over and over :)

i think you guys solved my poblem and you guys are awesome to take out you time to help me, but im still a little confused so, so i duplicated the track and then i can add another layer on it, which is great, but for mixing purposes and post production they are all on one riff, what i want is to play along with one riff but be recording to a new riff so i can export out and mix in say pro tools, if its not possible thats okay cuz this is still one of the greatest programs. mick

p.s. i'll mess around with it, i'll probably figure it out, thanks bill and gator

Maybe this will help (or maybe it won't!)....

In this picture I'm working on Riff4, it has 3 layers. If I hit the "duplicate" button on the upper left, it will give me an identical copy of the riff with a new name, that I can add to.

In this picture I'm working on riff7(1). In this case it's a completely different riff I created from scratch by hitting the "create" button in the upper left. To add more layers to a riff, just hit record and go!

I dragged all these riffs into the songbar up top, to create a song out of them. From there you can do a "mix to wav" and the song will be exported to a wav.

I hope something in there helps!
