Hi,
I love Riffworks and have just installed Ableton Lite (Line 6 ed) and there seem to be pretty cool possibilities for making the 2 applications talk to each other via Rewire.
However Riffworks gives me an "Error: Ableton..." message in the first Rewire message bar (I can't make this scroll to read the rest of the error).
Any ideas?

Do you have the Line 6 version or the Standard version from Sonoma?

Make sure you let RW completely launch and then open Ableton. (I have the full version of Live and never have used the lite version....I'm not even sure it supports ReWire.)

Thanks - I still get my error. In fact I get my error even before opening Ableton.

Should I make any specific choices of in/outputs on each program.

Can I use Ableton as master & RW as slave? Can't seem to acheive that either.

No......RW master only and Ableton slave.

Go to http://www.propellerheads.se/register/ and download the latest ReWire dll.

I bet that's your problem.

Ableton removed ReWire capabilities when they upgraded Ableton Live 4 Lite - Line 6 Edition to version 6. It works in demo mode but when you register using a Lite edition serial number, ReWire is disabled.

Thanks for clearing that up Michelle.....I wasn't familiar with the lite version. The regular one works as a slave or master and it makes sense if they don't offer it with lite.

Thanks - I really appreciate your help. At least I know what's going on now and can stop banging my head against the wall.

If anybody has any good ideas about how I could still use the 2 applications together I'd appreciate hearing them.

I might try making backing tracks on Ableton, then using them to play along to on Gearbox & recording with RW. This might work, but it would probably be impossible to sync with instant drummer.

Any suggestions?

i dont kow if you have to have standard or not,i use standard to rewire reason3 and it all works fine.
