RiffWork Standard was working great and then suddenly - no sound! :( PODxt/GrearBox are working fine and I can still hear my guitar through the monitors. I tried rebooting the computer but no luck. Any suggestions or should I download a fresh copy?

Try re-installing just the gearbox drivers E.....see if that works......If I recall correctly , you have Asio4All installed right? That always gave me problems ......I uninstalled that on XP and Vista.

Excellent recall mickey! However, I don't have Asio4All installed on this new computer. I tried reinstalling the PODxt driver but it didn't help.

As before, when it was working correctly, it displays "ASIO PODxt" as the device.

Try going into control panel, completely remove the Pod as a device, then re-boot so the system sees it as a device without drivers and re-installs them. My Toneport drivers got corrupted a couple of times recently, this worked one time and the oher time I had to re-install the latest drivers using Line6 Monkey. Might be worth trying another USB cable as well.

Thanks Bill. I'll try your suggestions when I get home this evening. The USB cable is one thing I haven't tested yet - however, it's seldom unplugged from the computer but who knows. Except for the monitor panel, all of the dials/lights are registering sound in RiffWorks.

If that's the case then Ed, the first thing I'd try is simply unplugging and re-plugging the usb cable. I have to do that about a million times a week on my computer.

yes, I have to do the same as Bill re unplugging and replugging the USB. But if you are using RW standard, remeber that the sequence is>

1. Shut down RW
2. Unplug USB
3. wait 10 secs
4 Replug USB
4. Restart RW.

Hi epauley

I would try what Bill just posted - replug your Pod and see what happens, though theoretically a restart should have done it. And, if you can, try a different cable - as a tech I see a lot of USB issues fixed by simply changing the cable - they fail more often than one would think.

As an aisde it is interesting that, like Bill and Colin, I had to unplug my TonePort all the time because of driver dropouts (the input selection dialogue showed 'None' when starting Riffworks). In this latest build, actually since the issue was fixed that made RW crash on start when my Lan connection was active, I no longer have to do it. Since then I have never had the unit unplugged - not once, and it has never crashed with the dreaded BUZZZZZZ either. Whatever the devs did in the last build, it fixed any foibles on my box. It is actually what I would call a pleasure to work with now; a big difference from before when it was a right royal pain in the bumper, but well worth the end result.

Good luck

Dave.

Hey Ed ....you didn't change your inputs (under Stero button) did you....on my TonePort I have ............

Send 1 & 2
or
Send 3 & 4

Now if 3 & 4 are selected RiffWorks will not record them but I'll still see the lights flashing...... it has to stay on Sends 1 & 2. I'm not quite sure what will show up for PodXT though.

Thanks Guys! I am back up-and-running! :)

The solution, as Bill, cwight, and Dave suggested, was simply to disconnect and reconnect the USB cable. It appears that others have wandered down this path many times.
