I appreciate you taking the time to look it over for me but I'd really like to see the old user agreement before the changes made on may 13th.

That shouldnt be a problem should it?

There was no prior agreement except the creative commons licensing line on the old RiffCaster site that I mentioned. Feel free to contact me directly if this still is unclear.

You can read that creative commons license here:

I found the 'agreement' I was referring to, the in-depth creative commons legalspeak. Wasn't there a direct hyperlink direct on the old riffcaster page to here or am I a forgetful chimp? Your only a link away from here with the CC hompage.

thx,

I was thinking over that delicate situation, well, even though I do not consider myself "recreating a song as is" it's mostly an adaptation towards my own limitations.

Anyway I'll consider deleting any cover songs uploaded (i guess there's just a couple).

Daaamnnn and I wanted to create a "beersong", now I'd have to pay royalties to Uncle Bill :(

I knew it Bill! I do appreciate you and the wifes vocal skillz, tho. Very Syd Barrett OR it could be the English accent, you could be talking about literally anything and i'd buy it.

Mozzarello, you can recreate the 'Beersong' without paying royalties, not only that u could distribute it, if you could find someone to do that for u. It would be difficult because the creative commons is a weird license that, when enlisted, basically puts all of the user music into a big collective pool and limits ownership somewhat. It treats original music riffcasters create like potential 'entertainment' for other users, not like something that has potential 'monetary' value.

Whats important are the terms surrounding original riffcasters music. I am not concerned at all about covers, neither should u be.

 Thnx!

Well, I'm in a deeper mess now, by analizing the "beer song" structure, and mostly (and quite complez) "Mojo", I've found out that:

1st - I don't have the accent.. so that'll become a major issue for either quitting already, or getting an "Uncle Bill V3.4 Accent Licence " (beta release, full upgrades up to 4.0 or Licence Holder's will- Will Will Have the Will?).

2nd - Even that "Beer Song Royalties" are affordable, I guess I rather buy an ID promo (10x get 10 bucks discount or so) instead. :)

Motion is not approved... ;)

And curiously, I was recording "Crazy Train" (don't ask, just like that song a bunch, whether listening to it but mostly playing it) and I double guessed on uploading it(well, it still need vocals + solo + final mix) due to the fact that we must assume, Sonoma's getting quite big and known.

No worries on playing by the rules, and well, now I get the way that creative commons licence operates a bit more, and well, as far on my behalf, I don't have any issues by playing "by the book", now if that book gets too big, I'll take a nap on it, as Garfield would do :D

As I always think:

As long as Sonoma keeps the effort on supporting their Customers, we'll be fiiine and daaandy.

They take care of us, we take care of them, fair deal, isn't it?

Cheers

You can find a discussion about covers in an older thread:

Section 3 of the Terms of Use Agreement "covers" covers :)
http://www.sonomawireworks.com/websitetermsofuse.php

Cheers,
Michelle

Thanks I read that section but did not understand what construed a post. The forum comments have helped me better understand the nature of the problem. I guess a layer or Riff ( collection of layers ) that sounds like someone else's creative work placed together to create a song, even though it is not a song you would recognize, it is still covered. And why would Sonoma want to deal with that one and nor do I.

Thanks for clarifying and I apologize for suggesting doing it. I misunderstood the nature of the beast. I will immediately correct.

Not to say some great cover songs haven't emerged (Mickey's Wicked Game comes to mind) but who needs copies, clones and covers anyway?!? Let's make original music and let the Karaoke bars handle the remakes ;) We're all about charting new territory here!!

My two pennies if you want 'em....
