I'm not sure if this is a Riffworks Standard Download question or one more specific to Amplitube 2 LIVE so any guidance would be appreciated (I didn't see a forum at IK Multimedia.com)

When choosing Amps with high gain (on Amplitube), there is a great deal of humming in the background that I can't seem to lower or get rid of (I'm not referring to the static that comes up when using a "demo" version of Amplitube)

In a previous version of Riffworks that I've used (on a friend's PC), there was a hum reduction capability on the right hand side that I don't see on the Standard download version that I have.

As the two tools are integrated, I'm wondering if there is a way that someone might know of to reduce the (pretty loud) humming when using high gain amps. It may even be a matter of the knob or function being named differently that I don't recognize.

I'm a bit of a novice (new) at this so please excuse what may be a pretty basic and dumb question.

Thanks

Gearbox has a hum reduction facility, but I don't think Amplitube does and I'm fairly sure Riffworks doesn't. Maybe try using a gate in Amplitube. Also, are you using a strat and if so is it shielded? And sitting too close to the computer and monitor can all increase hum. Try altering your position. But best bet is to move to Gearbox if you can...

Amplitube tries to be very realistic...sometimes too realistic!

There is Noise Gate in ampltiube and in most of the apps.

IN Amplitube 2 i think there is the NOISE GATE (thresh and release knobs) , the Threshold Knob at bottom sets your noise gate level for what to pass and what to stop, release adjusts how fast it closes. gradual or instant

Other Than that use good cables, properly sheided gear and sit a bit away from pc also when near puter you will get EM interference and usually changing guitar direction a bit can get rid of it.

What kind of guitar and pick ups is it? Not all are created equally, more expensive ones are sometimes coated inside the electronics area with resin shielding and have aliminum or copper lined pick gaurds. Also single coil pick ups are much noisier than humbuckers.

I'm using a Fender Telecaster with dual humbucker pickups...Not too sure about the rest of the innards of the guitar but over a standard amp, it's got tremendous sound...
