This new amp/rig sim is not out yet, but early word, if we can believe what some posters around the web are saying, is that this one is a killer app.

Anyone tried the downloadable, free demo w/ Riffworks yet?

Here is Peavey's description:

Note: I posted this earlier, but it ended up in the Green Room for some reason!

I believe the upgrade from MK2 has been out for some time now. What I've heard in review is mixed but that can be expected from just about any amp sim, its really if you 'find your niche' tone by utilizing different chains to get what you want. By itself though, the demos I've heard both mixed and unmixed have been very real to what a tube amp, especially Peavey, can sound like. And as we know, Peavey has pretty much been a major player in the tone world of rock n metal via VH in the 90's almost as much as Marshall has in the decades prior.

here's some samples of guys using this rig:
first up is a 17yr old guy in I think..Sweden.

Revalver looks cool for sure, but it suffers from the same maladies that every other amp sim app has that I've tried - errors that shouldn't happen while installing, high latency, and incompatibility with Riffworks. Don't get me wrong - Peavey makes great stuff. My stage rig includes a Peavey cabinet with 4 Sheffield 1290's - it's become crucial to my sound and is part of what people remember me by - that being said I was excited to find out about Revalver - only to be disappointed when I got an error message about some driver that was missing when I installed, even though my system far surpasses their minimum system requirements, I had nothing else running when I installed, and used the file directly from their website. Plus I've read where several other people say it won't work with Riffworks. If it doesn't work with the awesomest recording app in the solar system, it's of no use to me. :D

Well thats good to know. I was hoping it would be compatible. Not sure what OS you run, maybe it varies from OS to OS in performance...but ya, if you can't even download without error, then I can see why you wouldn't want to spend hundreds on the actual app. They have a good bass app to from what I recall.
I'll still give the demo a try. Interchanging tubes and internal components was actually a desired want out of amp sims when L6 started putting out their model lines and marketing the Vetta a few years back. So Peavey has realized that as a pretty cool component to designing or customizing your amp tone and made it a reality in a sim.

ahh, well latency too is a major factor, one of THEE reasons why I went with L6 and Riffworks. Latency can be worked around, but it takes a bit to find the right app, sim combination...pretty sure there are hardware devices out that reduce latency as well if I'm not mistaken.

Nah Bill I can't take credit for 'awesomest'. Someone beat me to the punch. Story of my life. And I believe you originally coined 'pootcast'!

Cool, so unlike when you use my Pootcast word I can keep saying awesomest without owing you any royalties then ? Or will I owe you a search fee ?? ;)

As long as you're only referring to me when you use the word 'awesomest', I'll seek no royalties. i.e., "that was the awesomest pootcast ever!"

The demo works pretty good. There are a ton of different options for setting up a rig. I have noticed a slight delay on some of the amp/effects/preamp rigs I was using but not much if any on most of them.
