Cocoa, sorry I missed this. To my knowledge Riffworks will only record at 44.1Khz. There was mention (I can't find it though) that it can record in 16 or 24 bit dependent on the hardware interface you are using. I think for instance in the Line 6 control panel you can set it to 24 bit, but I can't verify that.
From my own perspective, recording higher than a 44.1khz sample rate (for example 96khz) doesn't buy you much. Recording at 44.1 with a 24 bit sample rate has more headroom to play with and personally I feel there's some benefit gained, though it's subtle. There are some Instant Drummers that are recorded at 24 bit and to me have a touch more "air" to them.
There's always a "religious" war on some forum or another on the pros/cons of bit rate and bit depth...to me it's a much smaller difference than ensuring the tracking (recording) is done the best it can be upfront.
