Riffworks won't even start on Windows XP Pro or Media SP3

Just loaded a brand new version from CD. Loaded Amplitube 2 live seperately bundeled with a Stealth Plug and it runs fine so when I loaded Riffworks I unchecked the Amplitube load. When the program starts it says there is an update so I say OK. The update starts to run but stops and tells me it can't contunue because the program is running. When I try and stop the program I get nothing but an hourglass forever. I have to kill the program using the task manager for the update to finish. But then when I try and restart the program it says Riffworks was shut down improperly do you want to recover... so I say yes and again it just freezes with an hourglass and I have to kill it again. So I do it again and say no, same thing. I never have seen the program run.

I tried loading it on my laptop running XP Media SP3 and same thing.

This should help us determine what's preventing RiffWorks from running.
