in Audacity...click the WAV file and drag....it'll turn grey, now click effect on the tool bar, click Fade Out.......sometimes you have to do this 2-3 times to get a decent fade out.........but that's all there is to it.....the same for applying other effects.

Click and drag along the spikey, blue wave form for as long as you need the fade to be (10 sec / 20 sec etc) then, as Mickey says, click, "Effect" followed by "Fade Out". I usually do this three times. Same process goes for "Fade In".
If you want to put an effect across the whole track, you have to click the panel area on the far left (where the pan and volume faders are). You'll see that a click turns the background behind the wave form dark grey. To un-highlight, click on to the wave form itself.
Cheers!
Scott

Log in to your profile on Riffworld Chris, click new riffcast, fill in the details and upload the ogg from there :)

When you've added your effects to the ogg in Audacity you have to go to the file menu and export it as an ogg file. This new ogg file will be the one with fades/effects etc. When you'done that you can go back to the Riffcast from inside your profile and edit it, this allows you to replace the Riffworld ogg file with the new one :)

Dunno what sort of help you expect to get from someone as mad as a one legged parrot with whooping cough on pcp mate

Basically it goes like this, once you have opened the file in Audacity select an area of the file you want to alter (much the same as you would select an area of a text file you wanted to alter the font on) either by going to the file menu and clicking select all or clicking and dragging along the songline (Bottom line is you want it to be highlighted so the program knows which portion of the file you want to alter) add the effect or fade out or whatever it is you're trying to do. When you've done that go to the file menu again and export the file as an ogg (rename it it if you wanna keep the original file) This will give you an edited file to upload to Riffworld via your profile page as I explained before :)

Hop Hop Cough Cough Squawk Squawk, over and out ;)

I keep my OGG files at 7 ......high quality OGGs set at 10 might not save to the server...set at 7 it sounds much better then the quality of a tune 'Casted from within RW's itself.........

Chris, it looks like you know how to get the song out of RiffWorks and into an OGG (for best results though, Mix to WAV).

Highlight the last bit that you want to fade out, and choose "Fade Out" from the Effect menu:
Image

What I usually do on a fade is fade smaller parts the second and third time to give it that acclerating fade sound. Select about the last half of the part you just faded out and "Fade Out" again:

And one more time with another half:

Then go under File and pick "Export as OGG Vorbis" and save it:

Once it's mixed out of RiffWorks you can't get it back in, but you can post it to RiffWorld, by going to your RiffWorld page and clicking "New RiffCast" and filling out the form:

Vox is just a short/slang name for vocal. Voxes = Vocals :)
