Hi

I just upgraded to Riffworks Standard from the Line 6 Edition so that i could use a midi controller in through a VST plugin such as Sample Tank or Sonic Synth but the only VST plugin that works with Riffworks is Amplitude (which i dont need as i have Gear Box.

When i try to load up the evaluation copies of SonicSynth or SampleTank Riffworks just crashes.
I have activated the VST plugins and they both work fine in Ableton and Cubasis - so why don't they work in Riffworks?

This is quite frustrating - Please help

Thanks

Alex

Riffworks only supports VST on input and does NOT support VSTi or "virtual instruments" such as Sample Tank. If you want to use your midi controller you will have to do so via ReWire with a program like Reason. Or, you can use Sample Tank and Sonic Synth in another DAW like Ableton Live or Reaper (http://www.reaper.fm/) and link that through ReWire.

What you are attempting to do CAN be accomplished and plenty of others have done so. VST is not the solution in Riffworks however. There are other benefits to upgrading to RW Standard in being able to use different hardware interfaces and other VST plugins :)

Hope this helps. Can someone else here help get him going??

Thx,
Rich

Thanks Rich

For people who are not MIDI and Audio Software savvi this is quite a confusing concept.

Im sure somewhere i saw IK Media's SampleTank/SonikSynth and Riffworks Standard being advertised together as "compatible". This obviously was the main reason for purchasing RWS.

I have tried rewire. You seem to have record a whole track or loop and then play it back into Riffworks - i want to play live into Riffworks. I have ableton and cubase and neither of these allow me to do this as far as i can see.

For the money I've spent on various things trying to get this working i could have bought a real synth keyboard with a line out! :) I may still do this to be honest...

Thanks for your response anyway.

I've spent many hours on the internet looking for a workable solution and nothing works without latency or interference while trying to record keyboards/pianos/fx into Riffworks.

Thanks
Alex.
