I dont think so. The Gearbox software that comes with Line 6 devices only works with them and is 'tied' to the hardware. They do make a stand-alone VST version of Gearbox but I don't know if that works with any old hardware or just Line 6 stuff, or whether Riffworks supports it very well or not. Perhaps someone else could clear this up.

Dave.

If you have the GearBox VST plug In, it should work with your M-Audio device.....but you'll have a slight bit more latency then you would with a Line 6 interface (GuitarPort,TonePort, Pod)

I believe the Gearbox plug in is like $99.00 American.....

If your line6 is plugged into a USB connection on your computer the Gearbox VST editor will work with your firewire interface. However, if it is not, the Gearbox VST editor will not activate. The VSTeditor monitors USB for a line6 device. You will notice that at the bottom of the Gearbox VST editor. I thought I would be able to do that and purchased an presonus firebox this weekend. That after having purchased the Gearbox VST editor to work with RW. I thought I would no longer need my POD and could sell it to get back some doe. But NO that did not work. Unless someone knows something I don't as I just tried it a few minutes ago.

Crossgrade to Riffworks Standard Hal, $29 and you can use any supported interface with Riffworks, buy the Gearbox Plugin $99 and apart from having to get the hang of using Gearbox slightly differently and the latency Mickey pointed out you're sorted. If you had asked about an interface beforehand I would have recommended a Toneport UX2 :), (especially as you like to sing about winkles etc ;))
No-one remembers what you do or say. Everyone remembers how you made them feel. Allegedly !!!!

Well I did crossgrade a while back so I could sing on "shiddy little diddy" I have a US122 with xlr jacks that I used. Well it crashes my PC constantly because the drivers suck and over loads my USB bus. So the adventure really begins. Haha So next I went for the special 99$ Gearbox plugin a few weeks ago when I saw it was available at such a low cost.. I was trying to find a way to be able to record Reason and Drumcore since RW rewire does not handle layers and bought the 4 channel Firebox after returning the m-audio 410 2 channel thinking the additional channels would do the trick. Not so or I have not figured this one out yet. But I now think I am stuck with the Presonus (albeit nice interface as it actually works well and now I know I didn't really need it) as it does not do what I thought it would with RW and Reason etc etc. Instead I found asio4all that works with my Realtec AC97 PCI card and it does the trick not sure I like the sound quality. Now after all of this I finally get back to actually trying to play my guitar and yesterday I plugged my guitar in to the Firebox and loaded the Gearbox VST ( I had unplugged my podxt from the USB just to avoid issues from the previous crash experiences) No effects until I plugged back in the POD after noticing the flashing USB connection icon at the bottom of the gearbox vst window. Now what am I doing wrong that my line6 has to be plugged in and the extra channels don't work in rewire mode? etc etc etc. LOL. Live and learn as my cockles are in a jar down on the beach which is about 600 miles from me and I could have bought beer for mickey and replaced what he drank at your place with what I have spent. LOL.
