Hi all,

I know that most people want VSTi support in RW. Me too. However, what I really need most of the time is just a decent bass. In fact, I very often launch rewire applications or reaper&rearoute only for the bass.

So, if the RW team thinks that vsti support will decrease the stability and usability of RW, I suggest to add some kind of basic vsti bass, with maybe 4 or 5 sounds, a small midi sequencer and a midi loop player (all in the vsti interface). It could be optimized for the RW mix. With this feature, RW will become a real complete package for song composition, I think.

If finally we see vsti support, I still think that RW should include such vst bass, as now includes amplitube lite.

This are just some thoughts on how to have an "instant bassist" in RW. Maybe somebody else has better ideas...

cheers

I felt that way too when I first discovered RW.....cause that is missing in a lot of casts I hear. Bass really fills in the tune......it is hard to get good bass loops as well. I finally ended up buying a cheap $100 bass to fill the void or not be relying on bass playing buddies of mine to help me.

Not sure if something like this will work......but it is a good idea.

that's what i did too, bought a cheapo bass and the j-bass pre-set is pretty nice. i'm glad i did get one, lots of fun.

4 strings aren't any easier to play with tho! :)

Me too, very recently as well (sorry RedBaron....he was my resident bass player - bet he is actually relieved). I ofen find myself now getting a groove with the bass and the drums before touching the guitar.

I'd rather my drum vsti's were synced so I could loop those instead of rex.

When Riffworks first started, I don't think any of us had a bass. Now we can all lay down! ;)

What a community! you all really like hardware.

so... I guess I will also buy a bass! my problem is not only learning how to play but finding room in my apartment.

Ailerom, you can use reaper (with rearoute or rewire). Reaper is very cheap and it has a fully functional demo. Rearoute is an interanl asio driver which allows to send audio form reaper to RW. You have to try it.

For the rest of the people: which cheapo bass do you recommend?

I bought a new one in UK called a Nevada, probably Korean or Chinese, took a while to get the intonation etc sorted but looks and feels like a Fender Precision, 100 UK Pounds but everyone gets ripped off for everything over there so maybe $100 US. How about pawn shops, any of them around where you are ??? :)
