Hi all,

I love riffworks but my line 6 pod xt is out for repair and wont be back for three weeks! I recently purchased an m-audio jamlab because it was recommended as an excellent compatible product for riffworks. The problem is that I cannot hear my guitar through my computer unless I have the gt player software running. When I run this software riffworks tells me that I don't have an asio device connected and I cant play through the program. When I dont run gt player I can run riffworks and my input meters move and everything but I cannot hear myself while I play. When I go back to listen to the recording my guitar comes through with the effects and everything. I know Im being silly and theres a dumb fix for this, somebody please help me! An interesting sidenote, when I open riffworks before gt player I am brought to a preference screen and not allowed to open the program(gt player).

Thanks for your time!

Hey, you need to listen to RiffWorks through the headphone jack on the JamLab when you are using RiffWorks, since it's routing the audio to the ASIO device.
Look at the picture here.

GT player and RiffWorks are competing for the audio interface when you try to run both. It looks like GTPlayer has a VST version, which you could run within the AMP tab of RiffWorks Standard just like you can the included version of Amplitube.

Thanks gatorjj for your help!

On the jamlab the only way to listen is throuhg the headphone jack, unlike the pod which works through a standard guitar cable into the amp. I can hear the drums through my headphones but not the guitar as i'm playing. Once the loop starts over I can hear the previously recorded loop but not what I am currently playing. I know Im doing something wrong! Thanks for your time and help !

Pantecide, I'm not totally sure but it may be you have the "Hardware" button near the bottom of the RiffWorks screen switched on (it's the Hardware monitoring button and it's on by default). Click that button and see if you can hear yourself playing!

The JamLab is going to act different from the POD, especially since it doesn't have direct monitoring capability. So, I'm going to anticipate the next question which should be "why do I have so much latency/delay?" ;) Click the "Audio Setup" button (far bottom right) to set and lower your buffer size. FYI if your computer is slow it might start crackling if you get too low for the CPU power, but get it as low as you can without it cracking to reduce the latency.

i use a jam lab sometimes for playing through my amps. what i do is plug the head into jlab instead of the cab (on my bass amp) and with my fender amp i run the cable from headphone jack to the jlab.
now! what u need is a cable from the jlab hphone jack to the pc.
i just checked it out on my set up.

in rw i go to audio set up button (lower right corner) open and click m-audio asio.
that should get u the sound out the pc speakers.

i don't use the gt thing, never got the hang of it. but need it (i think) for the asio.
