Hi there.
Are you using ASIO4All? Make sure it is pointing in the right direction, to your soundcard, and that it is active. I couldn't get my setup going properly at all. Generally speaking, internal soundcards are not the best, even 'high-end' AC97's. Even if you get it going, it will probably be pretty woeful sound and lag-wise. As I said, I started out down this road and it was a lot of mucking around for not a good outcome; Sonoma don't officially support ASIO4All either which makes getting help difficult. A simple USB interface like an M-Audio Fast Track, or a StealthPlug will come with their own ASIO drivers and will work a hundred times better for not much money. A little more money sees you into a TonePort or similar, which comes with Gearbox, a wickedly good amp sim that has sounds you will drool over right out of the box. For me, it was well worth springing for the TonePort UX2, but only after I used a Fast-Track to get me hooked.
That's the way it works, so you should be prepared to spend hours at the computer, creating masterpieces for all to hear. The downside is your marriage will fail and if the world crumbles around you, you won't even notice.
Dave.
