I'm excited!!! My wife calls me at work and says UPS delivered my TonePort box! Now I can't wait to get home today and try it out with RiffWorks! I can't believe I ordered it yesterday morning and it's already delivered in 1 day via regular UPS ground shipping, amazing.

TonePorts open up a whole new world. I think you are going to have some fun...

Yeah, I just messed with GearBox for a bit after installing and getting upgrades. I played with some of the presets and created a custom user preset tone I called Yngwie Malmsteen 100%. After I experiment more getting it all dialed in, I'll upload it to the online Tone Library. I ended up being able to get to my speaker cable jack and plugged it into my TonePort GX. It sounds great! Next I have to try it with RiffWorks T4 at the same time. Hey, if I don't want to use the included Amplitube Duo LE amp/effects how can I keep it from auto-loading with RiffWorks when I start it up?

P.S. You wouldn't believe it but I went to install the CD and both of my DVD-RW and DVD/CD-RW drive trays would not eject except for intermittently once in a while. My PC is just over 1 year old but I have a 3 year warranty. I called Gateway tech support and they are sending out replacement optical drives in 3 to 5 days! By luck I was able to get one of the drives to eject the tray and loaded GearBox and Monkey and was able to remove the CD afterwards. Geesh!

Not sure about the auto loading, never had that problem. But you don't ever need the cd for gearbox, the latest downloads are always available in your Line 6 account.

With the Toneport and gearbox you have to make sure hardware monitoring system in Riffworks is off (the red 'LED' on the HARDWARE button will be on when it is off).

With that off, there is no way to load Amplitube so it shouldn't 'pop up'. Use monitoring via the Toneport instead, and though it appears limiting at first, you can soon work around it. Post that malmsteen tone so I can give it a shot.

And, as Slinger said, you can always download/update gearbox over the net - no need to install off a disk.

Cheers.

The Line6 Custom Tone website says: "Tone files created in GearBox or GuitarPort must first be opened and saved within the Line 6 Edit application before they can be submitted." I don't remember seeing the Line 6 Edit as a download choice in the Monkey updates tool. It's not clear if its compatible with TonePort but isn't it about the same as a GuitarPort device?
