Using a mic with Line 6 Guitarport

Can anyone help me -How do you set up a mic and get good volume with guitar port?I always have to crank it up and its low-I tried going through a Zoom effects unit-didn't help.What else can i use?

You didn't say what type of mic you're using - obviously the sound quality depends a lot on that. I'll assume you're using a decent quality mic. In my experience, the best results are gained using the mic preamp models for GearBox from Line 6. If buying the mic preamp models isn't an option for you, try using the generic "Tube Instrument Preamp" model in Gearbox with a little bit of compression for some added bump.

There is a very small '18+' button in the middle right of gearbox that gives you a volume boost. I have the same issue, guitarport has no phantom power. I have a very cheap mic, but I use the 18+ boost then dup the vocal riff a couple of times usually does the trick. one of these days I'll upgrate to the toneport and those problems will go away. pooter is right on about the mic tones to use, but you can experiment with the guitar tones too for fun. btw, turn off the 18+ when you go back to your guitar

Thanks for the replies-I will try that 18+ setting-and when i have a little money upgrade my gearbox to include the vocal extras.
