I have a version 1.0 disk & guitarport. I've spent 2 years working away & sold my old computer before I emograted.

I have a new laptop running windows vista & want to load rifftracker & GP onto it. I can;t get past the terms & conditions sheet. I click "I agree" then a box comes up with "set up has crashed".

Any ideas ???

So you have Riffworks installed and it is Rifftracker that is crashing? The dialog actually says 'setup has crashed?' My guess is that version 1 is not Vista compatible. Your guitarport should be OK if you download the latest version of Gearbox, but I don't think you'll have much success with version 1 (which I assume is Riffworks). Upgrading doesn't cost much and is well worth the extra features, though I know it isn't a very good 'fix' for your issue. There have been other posts about Vista compatibility scattered throughout the forum and from memory this was about the only fix available.

From what I understand ...Version 1 (the Red UI) won't run on Vista.......updating Gearbox won't do a thing but make it worse.....as "RiffTracker" runs with the old GuitarPort 2.5 software that is now obsolete. You should be able to get it working with XP as your OS......just don't upgrade to Gearbox.....unless you also upgrade to version 2 which is well worth all the new features.....then you could Riffcast, Rifflink and tons of new features as well.........

you can find how to upgrade here...........

Upgrade

another option would be to get RiffWorks T4 which is free.....and is a watered down version of Version 2.......that will work with your GuitarPort but you will have to install the Line 6 Monkey and upgrade to GearBox software all for free...........

You can get T4 here..........

Also you can crossgrade from version 1 to RiffWorks Standard v2:
http://www.sonomawireworks.com/guide/index.php/Riffworks_Crossgrade

RiffWorks Version 1 owners receive $60 off, making RiffWorks $69.

RiffWorks Line 6 Edition Version 2 owners receive $100 off, making RiffWorks $29.

Thanks for the help guys.
I'm starting with a new PC so the upgrade options won't work as the first instruction is not to uninstall V1.
T4 may be an option Mickey but I like to overdub a lot to make me sound half decent ;0)

Looks like I'll have to go the whole hog & buy line 6 V2 & load the guitarport software again.

Could you not just download the v2 from Line 6 website, if you have the code from V1, you should be able to upgrade though sonoma for the pricing stated w/o resorting to a whole GP package again.
