The manual says that you can record riffs using different tempos in the same session but how can you change the tempo when the tempos and lengths are locked? Also is it possible to change the tempo after you have recorded a riff? Thanks.

Tempos and bar length are locked when a riff has been moved up in to the 'Song Line' or if a 'layer' has been recorded in a riff.
You need take the riff out of the Song Line or delete the layer(s) from the riff before you can unlock the bar length and tempo.
