Hi
I've been using RW for a short time .... and although I can do everything RW does on a more comprehensive DAW, I love the simplicity and straight forward approach of RW. It makes me think about playing again!
I usually set a loop length then play/record through the loops many times having it auto mute recorded passes as I go. This leaves me with many takes. While it is possible to go through them and use the Level Envelope to raise and lower parts of each take to get a good single version, its hard to do and even harder to remember where the good bits were!
So I'd like to suggest a feature that would make this process easier.
First have RW split all the takes into bar (or even note) length sections. So we end up with a "grid' of parts. Bars of the recording left to right, and takes top to bottom. At the same time they are all muted so nothing sounds during playback. Now we click on the first section( ie the first bar) of the first take and it unmutes. Sounds bad? Click on the first section of take 2 underneath and it unmutes (take 1 mutes again). Maybe it's good.
Now move onto the second bar of the loop. Try the first take .. no?... then click on take 2 or 3 or 10... until you find a bar that works well with the first bar.
It would be so easy to mix and match the sections of the various takes to produce a final loop that sounds like I can really play!
Hope this makes sense.
