Hi,

this message is for people using reaper as rewire slave. I used time ago without any problem but now I'm writting a song using reaper extensively and I've found the following problems:

1.- Playing a song: the clock gets red and the sound coming from reaper is distorted precisely when RW changes from riff to riff. It is just a question of miliseconds. So, even one cannot hear the distortion if there are no notes right at the begining of the riff (the red clock is easier to observe). However, the problem is much more severe when I use some non trivial routing in reaper. For instance, with two track and routing midi from track 1 to track 2, I get the red clock and distorition when the riff is played for the second time. Using track folders the red clock only appears when RW changes from riff to riff.

2.- I have a riff associated to a loop in reaper. Suppose that this loop has a note right at the begining og the loop. Then, when I play the song, this first note sounds also at the end of the riff, as if there were some type of small shif between RW and reaper. If I move slightly the note, the problem dispapears.

I guess is a compatibility problem between reaper and RW since RW and reason work fine.

I'm using reaper with ezdrummer for drums. My plan is to do some research with different setups and send the problem to reaper people. I've already post the problem in reaper forums but it seems that not so many people uses reaper as rewire slave.

So, if somebody is using reaper as slave, please tell me if everything is ok or if you have experienced this type of problems. We could try to do this research together. As I said before, one needs some extensive use of reaper to find these problems. Reaper works fine when recordin or listening to a single riff. Problems appear when you play a song.

Thanks!

I just picked up EZDrummer and immediately trid to use it with Reaper in Rewire Slave Mode to Riffworks. It seems to work but when I change the tempo in Riffworks the tempo does not change in EZDrummer. Also it crashed and created a dump file. Are you having success using this method?

If not I still have use for EZdrummer I think I'll use it to fine tune drums in Reaper Abelton Live or Acid after scetching out a song in Riffworks, but using it Riffworks directly will be a huge help in shaping my sound to fit the drums.

mmm, I think this was ok for me. i change tempo in RW and reaper gets immediately the change (and i guess it passes the information to ez drummer). I will check anyway.

I did have a few crashes, but the main problem is distortion. I've reproduced the problem with ableton and reaper as rewire salve, so I conclude that it is a bug in reaper.

I open this thread:
http://forum.cockos.com/showthread.php?t=27605

but no replies yet. Maybe you can try some further research. Try to reproduce the bug with ableto+reaper in your computer, and check for the red clock in reaper.

I will try the FL solution,m thanks les for the advise.
