how do you have the monitors hooked up Chris? They should be plugged into the analogue output 1 & 2 on your TP for Riffworks. I have a Creative Xi-Fi soundcard that is plugged into a set of Logitech 5.1 speaker(rarely set to surround) set-up for my PC and general music listening, and a set of monitors for music mixing & recording only on the above mentioned outputs of my Toneport UX2 for recording and mixing purposes......if your trying to do it all on 1 set of speakers ..........something is going to suffer soundwise......unless of course you were using a GuitarPort which IS your PC soundcard.....

I have my audio routed through a TASCAM US-428 and a TonePort UX2.

Mics and instruments go in via the TonePort inputs. The analog outs from the TonePort go to the Line Ins on the TASCAM. The Line Outs from the TASCAM go to my monitors via their unbalanced RCA jacks.
The TASCAM drivers give a vastly superior sound than the Line6 ones. All of my sound and audio choices in XP are set to the US-428.
Cheers!
Scott
