If you are using the stand alone Pod Farm app you can launch that and use it conjunction with Riffworks.....if you are using the VST version you need to open RW and select the effects tab at the bottom of the main window. From there you can select AMP tab and use various VST amps sims....if the Pod Farm does not show up as a listed VST you will have to select find it. I believe the PF installer leaves it in the Line6 folder.....you may to go "set plugin path" & specify the path, or copy/paste the dll file into the applicable vst folder.

You will get lower latency, Tone Direct Monitoring is what Line 6 calls it, if you use the PodFarm app.
- Launch PodFarm, then launch RiffWorks.
- Make sure the Line 6 device is selected in RiffWorks Audio Setup.
- Leave Hardware button turned on in RiffWorks and adjust monitoring level in PodFarm.
- You have to listen to the audio through your Line 6 device, not your sound card.

cheers,

Sorry to turn this into a POD Farm thread, but I have the VST version of POD Farm, because I have the gear box plug in bundle. I too would love to use POD Farm as a standalone, because I have noticed the latency when using it as a VST.

How does one get the standalone version of POD Farm? I'm not sure how that works. Everytime I launch POD Farm on it's own, it doesn't recognize my PODxt, and tells me I don't have an authorized device, even though my PODxt is authorized for all my Line6 stuff.

Totally mystified, but still hopeful! :)

There is no stand alone version for Pods. You can use the standalone Gearbox which can sync up with your Pod. It can do everything the Pod Farm does except for dual tones, this is a limitation of the PodXT, other than that, Gearbox and Podfarm are really the same, they just look different.

Yeah that is pretty sucky of Line 6 to not have POD Farm work with PODs, i was disappointed to find that out after I bought my X3.

Shred, so POD Farm does not work with your new PODX3 Live? So you have to use Gearbox?

Wow I'm so glad I read this thread so I can see that I'm not the only one confused here. I got this email from Line6 about getting POD Farm Plat for free since I own a X3L. The download gave me nothing more then what I already had installed from their last email. When I launch POD Farm it will not detect my X3L so to be honest I have no idea what it does but take up hard drive space right now? It does not show up in my RW effects drop down so I guess I have to copy a file into RW to make it work?

Only the plugin works with the POD not the stand alone application.......I have the standalone installed and it does not detect the POD X3. :(

But is that still just a plug in verison? To be honest I don't mind tweaking my presets and tones on the POD itself, minus the GB or PF software, now that I know my way around it ;)

So the fact only the plug in version was all that worked was really no relevance to me. I just open RWS and record with my POD X3 connected via USB, and tweak the POD as required.

Funny I did not get that email........I will have to check that out.

***I did check the Line6 site and PF Platinum is a free download for PODX3 owners. It does not add any functionality that what you would already have as the X3 is loaded with all the amps/cabs/effects at time of purchase. But it does appear to add some presets into the mix, and give you the ability to tweak all of the goodies via the GUI of PF rather than doing it on the POD itself.

Just an FYI on that......:)

I got the email as well, and as a PODxt owner, I have to pay $49 :(

But let me ask, since there appear to be a number of fellow Line 6 hardware owners here:

GuitarSlinger said that Gearbox and POD Farm are essentially the same -- that would be great news, because the thing I want most about POD Farm is the acoustic and vocal presets. so if I look at the chains created in POD Farm, I should have all those same devices available in Gearbox to recreate those same setups, then save them as my own presets?

That would be cool, but I've noticed that when using Gearbox as a standalone, it says I'm missing some specific pre-amps and stuff that seem to be there when I use Gearbox plug in or POD Farm as VSTs, particularly when I try to access the vocal presets in Gearbox standalone.

I guess it really all comes down to what you have in the way of hardware and/or amp packs you have purchased. The XT has fewer amp models and effects than the X3, but I believe you can upgrade the package accordingly. The X3 it is loaded right out of the box, but with my Toneport I was missing all kinds of stuff too.

Does this mean if you buy Platinum, it automatically upgrades your amp compliment as well? Including all the effects and such....not sure.....can anyone verify that?

Vocal pre-amps are not available in standalone on PodXT, sorry. There is simply no more room on the PodXT for anymore stuff. That's partly why they made the X3 series.
