I don't know if the standalone version works for the X3 either, here's what I found on the Line 6 site:

Can POD Farm be used with my PODxt or POD X3 or not?

Yes, POD Farm plug-in can be fully enabled by your PODxt- or POD X3-series device (along with any models available in your PODxt or POD X3) for use within your DAW software. (Please continue to use GearBox™ as the tone editor for your PODxt or POD X3. POD Farm will not launch outside of your DAW software.)

Above this sentence is a big matrix with that shows the standalone being "N/A" for X3, X3 Live, X3 Pro, xt, xt Live, and xt Pro.

Here's the URL:

O.k., I know this is a little bit off topic, but seems to relate and it looked like it might fit here.

I have a Line 6 X3Live with both Gearbox and PodFarm. How do I get either of these programs to work with RiffTracker (I have RiffTracker 2 standard)?

With GearBox, I am able to check it off as an effect and it loads up fine but it does not seem to make any changes to the sound that is coming from my X3Live and the actual app says 'go to Line 6 Monkey to register' --- which it already is as I use it all the time.

As for Pod Farm, I am able to boot up the VST version and it says I don't have a compatible device (X3Live doesn't seem to be supported as VSTi b/c I think Line 6 wants you to use GearBox).

How do I get either of these programs to work within RiffTracker. I can always just run Gearbox in standalone mode and have it change patches at the X3Live level, but it seemed like a better and more integrated package to have it work through the 'effects' tab under Riff Tracker.

Thoughts?

Looks to me that you maybe need to upgrade/crossgrade to RiffWorks Standard. I think most of us run Gearbox or Pod Farm alongside Riffworks Standard, no latency that way :)

Just so you know, I am running RiffWorks Standard (just bought it last weekend). Once that is done, can you tell what the exact procedure to get each of these apps working? Both seems to think I need to activate something and I am unclear what that might be. Thanks much.

Hopefully Bobbo, (Pbobkanobi) will chime in soon as he is an X3 man. If you have downloaded Gearbox and Pod Farm from Line 6 the best thing to do is download and run Line 6 Monkey this will upgrade all apps and device drivers for you and should get you started :)

With PODX3 and PODXT pod farm works as a plugin. i.e you have to load the plugin just like you would load amplitube or other rigs (RW standard might be required to load the podfarm plugin).

A Good thing though is you can still use Gearbox standalone (almost zero latency as hardware) and chain that into podfarm plug in and have a versatile rig for recording.

I'll rest assured that i have started some new confusion. ;)

I only use podfarm to build my tones and then export them so I can load them into gearbox to use with my POD X3

I'll run Monkey again, but the last time i did it said everything was up to date.

Just to be clear, I am running Riffworks Standard. Both Gearbox and Pod Farm are up to date (per Monkey).

For Amp Farm, I point Riffworks Standard to the Amp Farm VST. It loads fine, but Amp Farm tells me that I don't have an approved device (does not care that I have a X3Live).

For Gear Box, I point Riffworks standard to GearBox VST. It loads fine, but tells me that I have to register GearBox with Monkey.

Thoughts?

Thanks for hanging in there with me.

You need to authorize/activate your pod farm plugin with your line 6 device. This is a mandatory step and i think without that it won't work. This is done via Monkey, if i remember correctly in monkey go to pod farm and click activate and the in code box type "refresh" (without quotes).

if that does not work, then go to you line 6 account and check that pod farm etc is listed for you or you may need to transfer the licence to the particular device you intend to use.

ok, I just wanted to let you know that the "refresh" worked! Thanks for the help.

Any thoughts on GearBox (ok, now I'm getting greedy). Thanks again!
