Hi,

The question is "What is the difference between Garageband and RW?"

similar features:
- looping possibility
- multiple recording loops, so you can pick the best recording out afterwards
- effects can be applied afterwards
- perhaps more stuff, but I'm at work.

Plus Garageband is Midi capable. What are the limitations of Garageband that RW doesn't have?
Please don't think of this thread as a RW-bashing one. I'd just like to know.

Hi,

There is a helpful page about this in the guide that doesn't go into the specifics of GarageBand, but might help. Others can feel free to chime in...

How is RiffWorks Different than Other DAWs

Also RiffWorks will soon export to other DAWs so it will be able to be used in conjunction with other recording software.

Cheers,
Michelle

Similar but different... most obvious would be no Rifflink. The other would be Garageband takes it a track at a time much like Ableton for recording and mixing. (as far as I recall, got a book on GB at the library over the summer as I don't own a Mac)

So you got:
- junt for correct timing (very useful)
- everything's riff based (provides good oversight and would be even better once we can move layers from riff to riff)
- overall guitar focus
- the instant drummer
- Riffcaster

I just love my lists.
Ok, thanks. Was just wondering.

What got me hooked was instant drummer. Sometimes having a beat helps start a song. My brother uses garageband and has to build drums from loops and or midi. I know there are some limitations with ID compared to the flexibility with midi in individual hits etc but that can be added with other techniques as the song progresses and is mixed down. Instant drummer amazingly seems to change with the riff which a loop can't.
