A part of IK Multimedia's 1 million installations promotion......IK customers can download some free stuff! I decided to grab SampleTank 2.5 SE.

Does anyone here have any previous experience with it? I tried launching the plug-in in RWS and it crashed.....anyone?

RW does not support vst instruments,o only effects. You can launch is but RW crashes at some point and you cannot enter midi data.
There are some ways to use vst instruments in RW but none satisfactory at least for me. You can use Reaper as rewire salve (but I get some distortion) and also Reaper with rearoute asio drivers.

Another possibility is FL studio8 which works with RW and admits midi input. My experience with FL is that it crashes if yuo launch it as effect, but it works fine if you launch chainer as efect and load FL in chainer.

I can get it to launch as a stand alone app and make noise with it, but it will not work as I had hoped with RWS. Riffer go to the install folder and run the exe there to use it as a stand alone, then specify the audio preferences and you will get sound.

I never thought about using it with Ableton....maybe I will try that......

I knew it was too good to be true, being free and all.......lol

Thanks for letting me know about this. I am all over it. personal opinion SampleTank is possible the easiest sampler to work with bar none and the samples are great. This is compared to Kontakt, Yellowtools ( Independence Free -free download also) etc. Great deal for all of this software. You do have to be into working a midi sequencer like reason or flstudio in order to get any use out of it and you can create wav files that can be imported via intelliriffer or etc etc. It's just what you are into or want to spend time on. For me I will never ever be the guitar shreder/player most are so midi seems a good alternative to making music and a great sampler is paramount to making that work well. Thanks again for the tip on the group buy.

no wonder, here I thought nobody else was jumping in on it or it had not been posted here, but looks like I was late to the punchline. Garchav and Rich are usually waay on top of this stuff.
